The Foundation of True Education

The Buddha’s teachings, as originally expounded by Shakyamuni Buddha, serve as the foundation for all true wisdom. Education, in its purest sense, requires dedicated teachers to transmit knowledge and guide students, ensuring that their Body-Mind-Spirit experiences positive and wholesome development. At Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, we understand that Buddhist education is not merely an academic pursuit. It is a collaborative effort involving teachers, schools, and parents who lead by example, demonstrating the Truth through their own conduct and devotion.

Nurturing the Seeds of Goodness

In our modern era, Buddhist education must evolve to meet the unique challenges of contemporary life. It is essential to integrate the into family life, allowing parents and children to learn and grow together. By providing a pure and simple environment from a young age, we allow the child’s Body-Mind-Spirit to be naturally purified. This process is supported by several fundamental practices:

  • Chanting the Holy Name: Making the recitation of the six-character name, Namo Amituofo, the core of one's daily practice.
  • Cultivating Virtues: Nurturing the inherent qualities of goodness, gentleness, , wisdom, gratitude, and filial piety.
  • Developing Faith: Fostering a deep understanding of Namo Amituofo and the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

We must ensure that these young minds are not tainted by worldly distractions. Instead, we encourage them to remain actively engaged in the path of Faith, Vows, and Practice, with the ultimate goal of achieving and realising one's true nature and attaining Buddhahood.

Navigating the Digital Age

Building a sound and healthy character is a shared responsibility between the family, the school, and society. We must be vigilant regarding the impact of modern technology. The excessive and improper use of computers, mobile phones, and other digital devices poses a significant threat to our Body-Mind-Spirit. We must strive to:

  • Stop the Harm: Prevent the spiritual damage caused by constant exposure to digital distractions.
  • Cease Negative : Halt the cycle of creating negative karma through unwholesome digital habits.
  • Protect the : Ensure that practitioners do not lose their way on the righteous path, which would otherwise block the growth of their wisdom and spiritual life.

The Ultimate Technology of the Dharma

The Buddhist education provided at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre opens the depth and breadth of our spiritual life. It allows the public to hear and witness that the Dharma is the ultimate "high technology". When you chant the Holy Name of Namo Amituofo 24/7, you are engaging in a process of profound purification. By chanting one Buddha's name to the end, you effectively cleanse your Six Roots and purify your Body, Speech, and Mind.

The Path to Ultimate Awakening

Living within the framework of Faith, Vows, and Practice allows you to advance diligently in your cultivation. As you see your true nature, you naturally develop the capacity to save yourself and others. By making the firm vow to chant the Buddha’s name, you secure your rebirth in the Western Pure Land. This is the ultimate destination for every practitioner, and it is the promise of the Buddha to all who follow the righteous path with a sincere heart. Namo Amituofo.
