During the and the Noon Offering, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju provided profound teachings on the virtue of stability.

The Harmony of Speed and Stillness

To be fast without being hurried is stability. To be slow without being sluggish is meditative concentration. To be neither hurried nor agitated is . Stability allows one to listen clearly and see with understanding.

If the heart possesses meditative concentration, neither speed nor slowness will disturb the stability of the heart. When the heart is at peace, one can accomplish tasks without calamity.

The Anchor of Meditative Concentration

Hurriedness manifests as panic and busyness. To be fast and hurried leads to agitation; it is difficult to succeed and easy to ruin things. Without meditative concentration, it is difficult to accomplish anything.

Stability infused with meditative concentration leads to perfection and clarity. Drawing inferences from a single instance is the mark of a clear and bright mind.

The Path to True Cultivation

The ability to accomplish tasks stably, regardless of speed, is great cultivation.

This message was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe, who served as the chief writer.
