Teachings from Namo Amituofo

On the sixth day of the World Disaster Relief Assembly, held for the benefit of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the world, Namo Amituofo offered profound guidance on the nature of true cultivation. This teaching serves as a vital reminder for all practitioners to look inward and examine the sincerity of their own hearts.

The Subtle Manifestations of Cultivation

Cultivation is not merely a grand gesture or a public display of piety; it is found in the smallest, most intimate details of your daily life. It reveals itself in your speech, your conduct, and your every movement. Even a single passing thought or a fleeting expression on your face serves as a mirror, reflecting the depth of your inner refinement. It is in these quiet, unnoticed instances that your true character is tested and revealed.

The Mirror of the Heart

Your outward behaviour is a direct manifestation of your inner state—your true self. If your heart has not undergone a genuine transformation, then you have not yet truly begun your practice. Why is this so? Because as long as you remain attached to , you cannot fully open your heart to the Dharma. Namo Amituofo sees the progress of every practitioner with absolute clarity. Many may appear to be practising, yet their inner state remains unchanged because they have not yet learned to let go of their own ego.

The Path of Self-Refinement

You must ask yourself: are you truly nurturing your heart, or are you merely going through the motions? True practice requires a dedicated commitment to your own spiritual growth. To advance on this path, you must let go of the ego that keeps you bound to the cycle of rebirth, focus on the purification of your own mind rather than the perceived faults of others, and cultivate the Wisdom that resides within your own true self.

The guidance from Namo Amituofo is clear: the purpose of your practice is to awaken the Wisdom within your own true self. Do not waste your precious energy judging the mistakes of others, for that is not the path of a true practitioner. Instead, focus entirely on the inner work of self-refinement. When you nurture your heart with sincerity and diligence, your true self will naturally shine forth, and you will find the path to liberation.
