Words of Namo Amituofo

The Barrier of
Namo Amituofo addresses the fourfold assembly. Through the repeated reminders and earnest guidance of Namo Amituofo, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su, you have been made aware of the vital importance of transforming your personality. Now, how is your progress in this transformation?
For those in the world, personality is often viewed as a natural, inherent part of being. However, for a practitioner on the path to , this personality becomes a significant obstacle. This is because your personality is essentially the manifestation of your and the persistent presence of the 'self'. It is the 'self' that stands in the way of your spiritual growth.
The Path to True Transformation
The purpose of your practice is to transform your karma, to end the cycle of birth and death, and to escape the suffering of the six realms of rebirth. To achieve this, you must work for the sake of all beings, which requires you to achieve your own liberation. You must let go of the 'self' and enter the state of ''. This is the only way to gain the opportunity for and to realise your true nature.
If you truly wish to realise your true nature, transforming your personality is absolutely necessary. You must continue this process until not a trace of your old personality remains. If you aspire to 'seek the Buddha's path above and transform all beings below,' transforming your personality is mandatory. If you wish to leave behind the stains of the world and attain purity, diligent practice in transforming your personality is essential.
The Alchemy of Chanting
How does one effectively transform their personality? The answer lies in the power of your practice:
- Hold firmly to the Buddha-name: By keeping your focus on Namo Amituofo, you allow the Buddha's to permeate your mind.
- Subdue the three poisons: Through the power of the Buddha-name, you can subdue your delusions, discriminations, and attachments.
- Dissolve afflictions: As you chant, you are actively transforming and dissolving the personality traits that cause you suffering.
When you nurture and expand your mind-capacity, you become capable of tolerating the shortcomings and mistakes of others. When you can stop the fire of anger from arising within your heart, you have truly begun to transform your personality.
The Fruit of a Purified Mind
Transforming your personality is a process of constant refinement. You must transform, and then transform again, until the work is complete. It is much like using pure water to wash away dust and grime; eventually, through persistent effort, the stains will be entirely washed away.
If you can chant Namo Amituofo while focusing on this transformation, constantly adjusting your mental notes and turning your thoughts, you will eventually reach a state of purity. When your thoughts are turned toward goodness, when they become pure, and when you finally enter the state of no-thought, that is the moment your practice has truly borne fruit. This is how you give rise to all and achieve the fruit of Bodhi.
My disciples of the fourfold assembly, how is your personality transformation progressing? You must continue your efforts with diligence and sincerity.
