The Eternal of the Buddha

Namo Amituofo always waits for His children to return home. However, if you do not seize the opportunity in this lifetime to realise your true nature and attain Buddhahood, and to secure your rebirth in the , you may not know how much longer you will wander through the six realms of rebirth. You may suffer for an immeasurable amount of time before you encounter such a rare opportunity again.

In this present life, you have the guidance of the Buddha and the presence of Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Here, we provide support to all disciples, assisting in resolving conflicts between you and your , and performing to help all beings reach the Western Pure Land. This is a manifestation of the magnificent power of the Buddha. You must do your utmost to overcome the obstacles in your practice.

The Discipline of and Chanting

You should reflect upon your own practice. When you perform prostrations, can you restrain your Six Roots? Can you keep your Six Roots focused entirely on the Buddha-name, and can you maintain this focus throughout the entire session of prostrations? Do not let your Six Roots wander outwards; instead, draw them inwards. You should even lead your entire body, including every cell and all the beings within you, to prostrate together. Remain cautious and focused on the Buddha-name, ensuring that your true self is not led astray by other beings, which would cause you to become drowsy or enter into other spaces.

Have you truly put your heart into chanting Namo Amituofo? If you can chant the six-character name of continuously, without relying on any other methods, your heart will naturally open. If you can chant with a straight and focused mind until you reach a state of deep peace and wisdom, you will achieve the . This is the manifestation of the power of merit and the majestic power of the Buddha-name.

The Importance of Daily Sutra Recitation

Regarding your daily practice, are you reciting the Infinite Life Sutra (The Buddha Speaks the , Infinite Life, Adornment, Purity, Impartiality, and Sutra) every single day? You must recite it with a direct and focused mind, without getting caught up in intellectualising the meaning of every word. When you are reciting the Sutras, if your thoughts become scattered or if false thoughts arise, you will inevitably become drowsy or fall into other spaces. These states of and entering into other spaces are dangerous.

Beyond the fact that your time is passing without progress in your practice, there is a greater risk. When you are at the end of your life and are wishing for rebirth in the Western Pure Land, if your true self is pulled out of your body by your karmic creditors, attached spirits, or even demon crowds, you will be led into these other spaces and trapped within them. At that moment, your spirit leaves , and the four elements of your physical form separate, leading to death. Who can know where your spirit will go then?

Securing Your Path to the West

Only the Buddha and Practitioner Su have the ability to rescue spirits from these spaces and send them to the Western Land of Nature. This is a blessing that is difficult to encounter in millions of years. Prostrations, chanting, and reciting the Sutras are the core of your daily practice. They are the fundamental lessons and skills for any practitioner of the Pure Land school. If you can diligently and solidly perform these daily tasks, you are cultivating the necessary skills for your rebirth in the Western Pure Land. If you cultivate these habits in your daily life and are prepared at any moment, then your rebirth in the Western Pure Land is truly within reach.
