The Boundless Nature of the Heart

A heart that is truly broad knows no boundaries. It is not merely a vessel for kindness; it is an expansive state of being that can encompass all the people, events, objects, and scenery that we encounter in our daily lives. When one possesses such a heart, one can maintain harmony in every relationship and situation. Whether it is the connection between individuals, our interaction with the surrounding environment, or our relationship with the infinite beings across the various spaces of the universe and the Realm, a broad heart fosters mutual respect and ensures that no harm is inflicted upon others.

Those who cultivate this vast mind-capacity are truly great in spirit. They embody the principle of and are free from selfishness. Their hearts are clear, bright, and empty, allowing them to be infinitely tolerant. Because they do not cling to a sense of self, they can see the world with absolute clarity.

Solving Problems with Wisdom

Many difficulties that seem insurmountable to others are, in the eyes of one with a broad heart, simple to face and resolve. This is because they have let go of the ego and can see the true reality of any situation. They understand the root of the problem and, without violating the Universal Principles, Truth, and the Right Path, they apply and Wisdom to bring about a resolution.

This is especially vital for those who have taken the vow to save beings. By seeing the suffering of others, they are moved to help them leave suffering behind. Because beings exist in every direction—across the Dharma Realm, the universe, and the various dimensions of space—a practitioner with a broad heart is able to accept and embrace all types of beings without discrimination. They understand that every being possesses the same true self-nature and recognise that while we appear different due to our confusion and afflictions, we are fundamentally one. By understanding this, they do not argue with others and can treat every being with an equal and compassionate heart, regardless of their current state.

Seeing Beyond the Surface

A person with a broad heart possesses a heart that is dignified. When they look at another, they do not see merely the external appearance; they see the heart of the other. By using their own heart to perceive the heart of another, they are never deceived by outward manifestations. They can perceive -Mind-Spirit condition of the other person and, with their own broad and dignified heart, help to resolve the other's distress.

In contrast, the suffering of most beings arises because their hearts are narrow and constricted. They find it difficult to accept others, which naturally leads to of unhappiness and inner turmoil. This state of mind causes them to lose their dignity and composure. Furthermore, because of the constant fluctuations of their troubled minds, they attract the manifestation of and the presence of , leading to a cycle of suffering. If one can cultivate a broad heart, these situations will cease to exist.

The Path to

A broad heart is a powerful tool that can dissolve karma and remove obstacles. It is the hallmark of a practitioner who has achieved success in their practice, as it is a state that is perfectly in sync with one's true self. By continuing this diligent practice, one moves steadily forward on the path toward Awakening. May we all strive to expand our hearts, align with the Truth, and walk the righteous path until we reach the of Ultimate Bliss.
