Recorded on August 11, 2024
The Radiance of the Buddha-light
Words of Namo Amituofo, recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
The Buddha-light is not merely a form of radiance; it is a profound energy that all beings long to behold. When this light touches the soul, it initiates a transformative process that cleanses the spirit and nurtures the heart. It is the very essence of stability and peace, providing a sanctuary for those who feel weary and powerless. This is the power of Namo Amituofo, which flows into the exhausted souls of beings, offering them the strength to continue their journey. As a practitioner, you must engage in the process of purifying , heart, and spirit. This is the essential work of removing the layers of dust and karmic stains that have accumulated over countless lifetimes.
If you can reveal the light within your heart, you must be vigilant not to let it become obscured again. By consistently removing these layers of impurity, you will begin to perceive the light. With every layer removed, the light grows brighter and more radiant, until the heart that has realised its true nature is fully revealed.
The Infinite Nature of the Awakened Heart
Those who have realised their true nature possess an infinite light. This light is not a finite resource; it is an inexhaustible energy that arises from the realisation that one is one with all beings and the natural world. By aligning your heart, your vows, and your actions with Namo Amituofo, you open yourself to a continuous flow of energy from the Buddha. Those who possess this infinite light are characterised by a profound sense of satisfaction and inner , a heart overflowing with gratitude and for all beings, and the manifestation of immeasurable Wisdom (Prajna), virtue, and dignity.
When your vows are firm, your determination to save all suffering beings becomes unshakable. Even if you find yourself amidst great suffering, your vow will never retreat. This is the mark of one whose heart is infinite; they remain without resentment or regret, steadfast in their commitment to the path of salvation.
The Twelve Lights and the Compassionate Work of Practitioner Su
The Twelve Lights are the twelve distinct names of Namo Amituofo. Each of these lights carries the same power as the six-character name of Namo Amituofo, embodying the infinite compassion and vow to save all beings, the immeasurable power of merit, the majestic power of the Buddha, and the fearless power to overcome all obstacles. Practitioner Su, by aligning his heart, vows, and actions with Namo Amituofo, invokes these Twelve Lights. When he chants these names, he is fully supported by the Forty-eight Great Vows of Namo Amituofo. Consequently, the power that Practitioner Su manifests when subduing demon crowds is identical to the power of Namo Amituofo himself.
Through this immense , the demon crowds are subdued and saved, allowing them to enter the Western Land of Nature. They are guided to cease their negative and reveal their own inherent goodness. This is the true manifestation of Practitioner Su’s infinite heart-light, working in perfect harmony with the Twelve Lights to save the world and guide all beings to liberation.
