The Illusion of the Physical Form

During the ninth day of the Hong Kong Winter Disaster Relief and Wish-Fulfillment Assembly, Namo Amituofo provided profound guidance during the third session. The discourse, titled No-Body, invites us to contemplate the transient nature of our physical existence. How should one face the state of no-body? The physical body exists between the realms of birth and death. It is born, and it eventually perishes. The beginning of a life is marked by the birth of , yet the conclusion of a life is marked by the body's disappearance.

This body is indeed a body, yet it is also destined for the state of no-body. When one reaches the state of no-body, how does one prepare for the journey ahead? No-body refers to the state of the spirit. When one is in this disembodied state, it is often difficult to find clarity or direction. Without the physical vessel, the spirit may wander, lacking the focus required to see the Truth clearly.

Cultivating the True Self

Therefore, while you are in this world, you must cherish this physical body. Use this precious vessel to cultivate your self-nature. Do not let this opportunity pass by, for the body is the instrument through which you can realise your original self and prepare for your ultimate destination. By practising diligently now, you ensure that your spirit is prepared for the transition beyond the physical form. Namo Amituofo. Recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Shi Faxi.
