The Only True Buddha-Land
An Interview with Venerable Changren
Recorded on August 29, 2018
This is a record of an interview with Venerable Changren, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This testimony was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxi, on August 29, 2018.
Venerable Changren speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Venerable Changren. In the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, we can see beings everywhere who have been led here by the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Everyone here is so joyful and settled in this pure realm. We all know, with absolute certainty, that this is the only true Buddha-land in the entire realm of emptiness. We cherish this place deeply, and we know how desperately we need it."
The Only True Buddha-Land
"Think about it—without this place, where would we be? The vast Dharma realm would remain a desolate, cold, and dark expanse. It is only here, through the combination of a practitioner's sincere practice and the infinite power of the Buddha, that the impossible becomes possible. Following the Truth, all obstacles can be broken through and transformed. So many terrifying experiences from our past lives, which once seemed inescapable, have been purified and clarified by the Buddha’s teachings, bringing peace to our hearts and minds. I, too, was saved only because of this place. I am filled with gratitude for this centre, for the grandmotherly of Practitioner Su, and for the boundless grace of Namo Amituofo."
The Desperate Queue for Deliverance
"The great —the deliverance of sentient beings—takes place every single morning. You should see the lines! They stretch so far, reaching into the distance, as countless spirits wait in hope of catching the opportunity to be saved. Everyone clings tightly to every chance they get to come here, but it is not guaranteed that everyone will make it every time. There are simply too many spirits, too many beings in the cycle of reincarnation who are fighting for this one chance. If you are not careful, if you miss that moment, the opportunity is lost. They have no other way to resolve the problems of samsara that have plagued them throughout their many lives. Only here can these deep-seated karmic debts be settled."
A Personal Transformation and Vow
"Now, I serve as a great Dharma protector for this centre, and I am one of its most steadfast supporters. Any matter, large or small, that concerns this place—I will do my utmost to assist and protect it. No matter how difficult a problem may seem, I have the ability to overcome it. My only hope now is to let more people know about this. Whether they are in the human world or are beings throughout the Dharma realm of emptiness, I hope that everyone can be saved as soon as possible and achieve rebirth in the Western Pure Land.
I am also actively continuing my own practice, working diligently every day. I look forward to the day when we can all meet again in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am truly grateful. Namo Amituofo."
