Words of Namo Amituofo, recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe.
On the twenty-fourth of September, 2022, Namo Amituofo provided these profound teachings regarding the nature of existence.
The Dual Nature of Existence
The origin of life within the vast universe is a natural occurrence; it arises spontaneously and exists in a state of natural, unforced being. In this world, the life of our physical body originates from our parents, following the biological laws of this realm. However, the origin of our spiritual life is fundamentally different. It is without beginning or end. It transcends the limitations of birth and death that govern our physical forms.
The Infinite Vastness of the Realm
The vastness of the Dharma Realm is filled with endless beings. They reside in various dimensions, and within each of these dimensions, there are further layers of space. This is the complexity of the universe. Spiritual life is something that all beings possess, regardless of their current form or location. When you allow your own spirit to take command of your body, rather than being led by external desires or karmic habits, this is what we call true autonomy.
The Illusion of Time and the Power of Now
The Buddha’s teachings help us to understand that our spiritual life is without beginning or end. This is not a truth that can be grasped through intellectual inquiry or logical deduction. Therefore, we must understand the nature of the mind:
- The past heart is unattainable, for it has already vanished.
- The present heart is unattainable, for it is constantly in flux.
- The future heart is unattainable, for it has not yet come into being.
Because these states are beyond our grasp, we are taught to live fully in the present. Every single moment is a new beginning. When you are not obstructed by the burdens of the past, the anxieties of the present, or the uncertainties of the future, you can live with a sense of freedom, clarity, and peace.
The Path to
Many people seek to change their lives by searching for the source of their existence, hoping that by finding this origin, they might transform their destiny. Yet, they often find that the source remains elusive. You must realise that the power to change lies within every present moment. Each moment can be a fresh start, or it can be a continuation of your past habits. It depends entirely on how you spend each moment in diligent practice.
Within this limited span of your physical life, will you be able to seize a moment of clarity? Will you find the opportunity to realise your true nature and become an awakened being? This is the ultimate goal of your practice. Namo Amituofo.
