The Path to Being Free and Easy
Teachings from Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju
First Session of the 2019 Global Disaster Relief and Blessing Dharma Assembly

The Hidden World Around Us
Every cloud drifting in the sky is filled with sentient beings. Every layer of space throughout the universe is inhabited by spirits. Yet, despite this proximity, these beings remain unaware of one another, living as if they are entirely unrelated. Even the grains of sand upon the earth are each imbued with a spirit. Because of our individual habits and the unique karmic imprints we carry, we appear different to one another, and thus, we remain strangers, unable to recognise the shared essence that binds us all.
The Illusion of Separation
We have all gathered here at this moment because we share a deep karmic affinity. Every spirit present, whether visible or hidden, is aware of the Fragrant Light of the Buddha. You must realise that the Buddha is not a distant figure to be sought in some far-off realm; rather, the Buddha resides within your own heart. Do not look for the Buddha outside of yourself. When you successfully find your true self, you have found the Buddha. This realisation is filled with inconceivable wonders, for the Buddha is not an external entity but the very essence of your internal nature.
Reclaiming Our Original Freedom
The miraculous powers of the Buddha—the ability to manifest and move freely—are inherent in you and me. To manifest in countless forms is our natural state. We are meant to be free and easy, capable of coming and going without obstruction. In an instant, one could travel ten thousand miles. However, beings trapped in the cycle of samsara are lost in confusion. Today, we are limited to walking on two feet, bound by the physical constraints of this world. If we find ourselves unable to reach distant places or understand the truth, it is because we have forgotten our original, innate abilities. It is not that the path to liberation is difficult to walk; rather, it is our own attachment to our habits that pulls us back, causing our natural, miraculous powers to fade away.
The Path to True Liberation
If you can listen to the True Teachings of the Buddha with a sincere heart, you will begin to understand the reality of existence. By comprehending the Buddha’s teachings, you will awaken to the truth of the universe. You will find your way back to your original, true face. When you achieve this, you will experience a state of being that is truly free and easy, and your heart will be filled with a profound and lasting coolness. This message was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
