Words of Namo Amituofo, recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.

On this day, the twenty-seventh of April, two thousand and twenty-four, we receive these profound teachings from Namo Amituofo. It is a call to look deeply into the nature of our existence and to recognise the path that leads us out of the darkness of confusion and into the light of the of Ultimate Bliss.

The Endless Cycle of Samsara

Suddenly, one awakens to the profound suffering within suffering. We find ourselves trapped in the endless cycle of samsara, turning and turning without rest. Throughout countless aeons, we have accumulated innumerable sins and transgressions. Because of these past actions, our now come to seek their due, and we must endure the resulting suffering. When we experience pain in our body, mind, and spirit, we must ask ourselves why this is happening. It is the result of the negative we have created in the past. To find peace, we must be willing to repent sincerely and accept the consequences of our actions. Only through such honest repenting can we soothe the hearts of those we have harmed and dissolve the layers of confusion that have built up over lifetimes.

The Light of Deliverance

On the road of reincarnation, there is no one to rely upon. We are born alone, we die alone, and we travel this path without a companion. We come and go, not knowing who we truly are. How can we ever hope to be free from the sufferings of samsara? Suddenly, one awakens to the greatest fortune of all: the opportunity to encounter Namo Amituofo. It is the Buddha who emits light to guide all beings. For the fourfold assembly of disciples, even the karmic creditors residing within our bodies are touched by this light, and their obstacles are dissolved. If you continue to chant the sacred name of Namo Amituofo with a sincere heart, you will surely be led by Namo Amituofo to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

Waking from the Dream of Confusion

When will the person lost in a dream finally awaken? When will one be free from the traps of delusion? If you believe you are awake but are still living within the dream, you must wake up again to see the truth of reality. If you only see with your physical eyes but not with your heart, you remain lost in a thick fog of ignorance. True practice requires a genuine , where one can break through difficult situations without fear. The most important foundation is to have faith in the Buddha. If you do not have faith, it is difficult to enter the path, difficult to understand the true meaning of the teachings, and difficult to engage in true practice.

The Foundation of True Practice

If you have faith in the Buddha and faith in your own true self, you must put this into action through true practice. By doing so, you will eventually be able to align your heart with the Buddha-heart. You will rediscover your original, true self and see the light of wisdom. From that point on, you will walk alongside the Buddha, engaging in the work of saving infinite suffering beings. This is the ultimate purpose of our practice: to leave suffering behind and find happiness, not just for ourselves, but for all beings throughout the universe.
