The Plague God's Path to Redemption

This interview was recorded on March 27, 2020, at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Venerable Faxin sought to understand the origins of the pandemic and how to alleviate the suffering it caused. He invited the spirit of Li Fuchuan, a being associated with the plague, to share his perspective on the viral spread and the potential for global healing through the Dharma.

Li Fuchuan speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Based on my observations, the momentum of those spreading this pandemic has shifted significantly. What was once a singular, overwhelming force has now fractured into scattered, sporadic pockets of influence. These remaining pockets consist of individuals who refuse to yield; they carry the viral strains or work to enhance the potency of the virus, accelerating its effect on the human body and leading to rapid fatalities. They are not part of my group. Many of them are foreigners who identify as demons, drifting through the air in foreign lands, constantly searching for new targets."

The Necessity of Compassionate Transformation

"If you wish for them to cease their actions, you must cover them with the power of righteousness and soften their hearts. The mindset of many who participate in this spread is rooted in a desire to see humanity—with its greedy and selfish character—receive its karmic retribution. They believe this is the only way to restore fairness to the world. However, after listening to the teachings here, I have come to understand what is truly right and what is not. Through the cultivation of Goodness, the widespread dissemination of positive energy, and the constant Dharma assemblies that purify the universe, I have come to deeply appreciate the compassion of Practitioner Su and the immense effort of the Buddha or Bodhisattva at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in their work of deliverance."

Humanity's Role in the Crisis

"The toxins currently triggering the virus within human bodies are, in truth, self-inflicted. Humanity still lacks the necessary awareness. People across the globe do not need to live in panic. Instead, everyone should maintain right mindfulness and remain vigilant. The more you maintain a positive and steady outlook, the less likely you are to be afflicted. Your hearts must be grounded and firm. As for me, I will transmit a message to those involved in this plague, counseling them to radiate a light of warmth so that everyone may maintain a balanced state of mind."

A Turning Point for the World

"There may be other Plague Gods or demon crowds who look down upon my current actions, as I was once one of the loudest voices driving this pandemic forward. I was the one who led many like-minded beings to join this cause. Now, however, I will do my utmost to transform this low-pressure, negative force. I will also bring these viral entities to participate in the Dharma assemblies, giving everyone a chance to find a new path. This is where I will dedicate my efforts.

"Humanity should also take this pandemic as an opportunity to see the truth clearly; there are many aspects of life that require deep reflection. This is a chance for humanity to be reborn. The excessive desires of mankind, the fleeting nature of life, and the turbidity of the human heart—all of these are calls to awaken. Once the holes left by these defects are filled, you can start over as a human being, beginning anew with a clean slate."
