The Power of True Repentance
Teachings from Namo Amituofo

The Preciousness of a Sincere Heart
A heart of true sincerity is a rare and precious treasure, yet it is often difficult to find in this world. True repentance has the power to resolve the conflict, yet it is equally difficult to manifest in its purest form. When you seek to walk the path of the Buddha, you must learn to cultivate a heart that is genuinely respectful toward every single being you encounter. You must strive to reach a state where there is not a single person you dislike, and not a single person toward whom you hold resentment.
You must truly understand that every being possesses the inherent Buddha-nature. Every being is, in essence, a Buddha. It is only because their true nature has been obscured and polluted by confusion and the laws of and cause and effect that they appear otherwise. When you look at others, do not see their faults; see the Buddha within them that is currently hidden by the veils of their own past actions.
The Illusion of the Cycle of Rebirth
The conflicts you experience with others are often the result of Causal Conditions formed over many lifetimes. These are not merely disputes of this present life; they are often deep-seated antagonisms that have persisted across countless incarnations. This has led to the current situation where your grievances are difficult to resolve and your hatreds are difficult to pacify. You must realise that these scenes of the cycle of rebirth are merely the unfolding of the laws of karma and cause and effect. They are the result of Causal Conditions arising and ceasing, much like a fleeting, illusory drama.
Every being currently experiencing these is merely a character within this grand, illusory play. All are bound by the relentless cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death. Because of the physical suffering caused by illness, the heart and spirit are also dragged into pain. Consequently, following the laws of karma and cause and effect, these beings are pulled once again into the cycle of rebirth. You must recognise that this is the reality of samsara, and it is a cycle that you must strive to transcend.
The Path of Thorough Purification
My children, you have not yet clearly recognised the truth of these facts. True, sincere repentance is the only way to achieve the purification of your own heart and spirit. You must face your past with absolute honesty and courage. You must confront the following aspects of your past self:
- Your deep-seated ignorance and confusion regarding the truth of the universe.Your selfishness, which prioritised your own desires above the well-being of others.Your strong ego-attachment and stubborn insistence on your own views.Your overbearing and unreasonable behaviour toward those around you.Your arrogance and the abuse of power you may have wielded to commit various sins.
You must wash your heart clean and change your ways. You must repent for the negative karma created by that former self— that was ignorant, selfish, arrogant, and unreasonable. This is not a superficial act; it is a profound transformation of your character.
Transforming the Self for Rebirth
You must change your personality so thoroughly that not a single trace of your former, negative self remains. Only by doing this is it possible to prevent the evil consequences of the negative causes you have sown in the past from manifesting in your present life. You must learn to genuinely respect every being, and you must repent for the sins committed through your past ignorance.
True repentance is the foundation for changing your ways. It is a wonderful method that assists all beings in accepting the resolution of their conflicts, receiving , and ultimately achieving rebirth in the . By purifying your heart, you align yourself with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. Do not let another moment pass in confusion. Embrace this path of repentance, and let your heart return to its original, pure state. Namo Amituofo.
