The Prison Guard's Revelation: Between Hell and Ultimate Bliss

This interview was recorded on March 30, 2021, at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Cheng Yucheng, a young spirit who once served as a prison guard in the hells, sought deliverance through the compassionate guidance of Practitioner Su. He now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, where he continues his practice.

Cheng Yucheng speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am so incredibly happy to have this opportunity to be interviewed. I am deeply grateful to Practitioner Su; it is only because of her compassionate heart and her tireless efforts that I have been able to come to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This place is truly magnificent—I have never seen such a beautiful realm in the human world. It is absolutely wonderful! I truly hope that everyone can return here. Looking back on my past experiences in the cycle of rebirth, I realise now that I spent those lifetimes in total ignorance. I feel such deep remorse and regret. If only I had awakened sooner while I was still caught in the cycle of reincarnation, I would not have had to wander for so long. I want to share my experiences with you all, hoping that you might awaken early and join me here in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is truly the ultimate home for our spirits, and I hope everyone can come!

The Chasm Between Suffering and Joy

I am so thankful that I was finally able to reach the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I cherish this rare opportunity every single moment. I am so grateful to Practitioner Su for guiding me to liberation. Life here in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is completely different from my time in the hells. I can feel the immense contrast between the two: the hells are places where beings suffer and endure punishment—it is a realm of agony and torture. In contrast, the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is a place of purity, where beings attain liberation. It is a realm of ultimate joy and absolute freedom. Having experienced both, I can tell you that the suffering in the hells and the joy here are a stark reality. I hope everyone understands that you have a choice to make!

Everything I witnessed in the hells was absolutely terrifying! Skinning, bone-scraping, boiling in giant cauldrons, iron nails, pillars of fire—there were so many instruments of torture, including machines that would grind people into meat paste only to have them reform into human shape again. It was a horrific sight. I fear that if you saw it, you might never dare to be human again; it is truly that frightening! When I first arrived in the hells, I felt physically sick. I kept thinking, 'How could such horrific things exist?' But later, I realised that this is the nature of the hells, and it became a normal situation. After seeing it so often, I became desensitised. Furthermore, as part of my duties, I had to lead beings to various execution grounds to receive their retribution. Every day was different, and I simply followed the tasks assigned to me.

The Youth of the Hells

Many times, the beings I led to the execution grounds were young boys. I often wondered, 'What crimes did they commit to be sent here?' They were so young! Some looked even younger than I was. How could this be? Is society really in such a bad state? I later learned that they were sent to the hells because they were addicted to the internet. Over the years, this has become incredibly common, and the beings being sent down are getting younger and younger. Sometimes, I even see young girls being brought in. The state of modern society is truly worrying!

I once wondered why the older generation was not being sent to my section of the hells. It turns out they were being sent elsewhere. The older beings often have more spiritual attachments and their bodies are more severely affected. They are not just sent to the hells for retribution; many are taken to the Yama courts beyond the eighth or ninth halls for trial, as their lives are often nearing their end.

The Futility of Worldly Attachments

In the hells, you can see many aspects of worldly life. But once they reach the execution platform, everyone receives their punishment obediently. All their unwillingness, their inability to change, and their inability to let go—it all vanishes. Under the blade, every being looks the same, crying and begging for repentance. Yet, while they were in the human world, they were unable to change their ways. It is such a pity! Beings are so foolish; they suffer so much for things that do not even exist. If you cannot let go, you will suffer immensely! I have seen so much in the hells; please, believe what I am saying.

I am so grateful for Practitioner Su's help, which is why I want to tell you all what I have seen. Do not think that your daily actions have no consequences. In truth, every single bit is being recorded. If your mindset is not upright, or if you think no one sees what you are doing, you are mistaken. We do not even need to look; everything is known. When your time comes to be brought in for retribution, you will not be able to escape. This is the law of cause and effect—it is not that there is no retribution, but that the time has not yet arrived. Everyone should be aware of this! If you feel listless, have chest tightness, feel mentally scattered, lose focus, or experience physical stiffness, fatigue, weakness, or sharp pains, you should reflect on whether you have said the wrong things or done the wrong things in recent days. When your actions have a significant impact, interfere with others, or cause harm, the speed of retribution is now extremely fast. You must be careful, watch your words and actions, and do not create karmic debt unintentionally. Suffering in the hells is not something an ordinary person can endure. Moreover, those who have suffered in the hells often accumulate more spiritual attachments, and one could say their yin energy becomes heavier. I have seen that after these people return, they age faster, and before long, they are often replaced by their karmic creditors. The price paid is truly high. It is such a pity to see everyone unable to let go of these ignorant worldly matters, continuing to create karma, and being dragged back to the hells time and again. It is simply not worth it!

The Digital Trap

You really need to think clearly: is this world worth such a sacrifice? I have seen it, and I truly feel it is not worth it! Looking at the state of the world, so many young children are creating karma, but in reality, they are no longer themselves; their own consciousness is not in control. This world has added a space called technology, which affects human consciousness and controls the entire spirit. I lived in this world too, and I understand technology quite well. Even by age, I am still a young man—I just turned thirty this year—so I understand these things! People get addicted to the internet out of curiosity, but the deeper reason is inner emptiness. They try to satisfy themselves with these ignorant desires, not knowing that they have stepped onto a path of no return. They become addicted, gradually lose themselves completely, and eventually become unable to master their own lives. They end up like walking corpses, looking nothing like normal people, suffering from lack of energy, scattered focus, and memory loss. Internet addiction is a very common problem in the hells now. It is rarely just addiction; most of them also develop bad behaviours, such as imitation and the adoption of twisted values, which creates many different problems for society as a whole.

Modern society is certainly not as simple as it used to be. With the convenience of technology and the influence of multimedia, many young children are exhibiting behaviour far beyond their years. The most common problems are premature sexual activity, indecency, smoking, drug use, and incorrect perceptions—such as using foul language, disrespecting teachers and parents, and having strong, subjective egos. I believe these are already very serious social problems. As young parents emerge, these incorrect perceptions are passed on to the next generation. Society is gradually losing its proper form, and the hells are becoming busier, with endless problems to deal with every day.

Everything I have said here is only a fraction of what happens in the hells. There are always many different things occurring, and I cannot describe them all one by one. I can only tell you that you must change. Do not continue to create karma in your ignorance. The consequences of retribution are terrifying; do not remain unaware and unawakened.

Greed and the Darker Side of Human Nature

There is another type of person in society today: those who want to take advantage of others. This mindset is something we frequently wash out of people we bring in. They want to gain benefits from others, designing schemes, harming, and plundering at any cost. Some even resort to intimidation and robbery. We are constantly judging such greedy behaviour. When these people are brought in, they are usually hung upside down and soaked in water for a period before being fished out and sent back to the human world, in the hope that their brains will be cleansed of these incorrect thoughts. Although I have seen that these people do not seem to change much even after their punishment, the King of Hell's intention is to let them receive their retribution first. If they have any awareness, they might be able to correct their wrongdoings in time and cherish this precious human life instead of wasting it.

I have also seen people whose desires, ambitions, and the urge to surpass others are hidden deep within their hearts. These are the same type of people as those described earlier; they just differ in the severity of their actions. They share the same desires and pursuits, which are the dark, ugly parts of human nature. Such people are also prone to jealousy and envy of those who are better than them. This mindset is also one of the common problems in the hells today.

You must know that what I am sharing today is just the tip of the iceberg. There are too many problems constantly emerging in this world, and the number of people sent here every day is truly vast. People are constantly being sent to the hells for punishment, yet very few appear to be awakened. The cycle of reincarnation is a place of immense suffering. Please, do not come back to be human; no one can truly master their own fate here.

The Problem of Lust

I must also mention a very serious problem: lust. Modern men and women have strong desires. I believe everyone is already aware of this, as you can see how common it is in modern society to have unmarried parents and so many aborted infant spirits. Because of the spread of multimedia, many people's values are influenced early on, leading to precociousness and curiosity. Many young men and women become infected with lust and subsequently addicted. Modern society is open and no longer as reserved as in the past. Many men and women gradually stop caring about relationships and act on their whims. Furthermore, modern clothing is often revealing, carrying hints of temptation. This world is filled with suggestive messages related to sexual relationships. The world has become quite impure because everyone has an added layer of complexity in their hearts.

Lust makes the mind restless. Controlled by the pleasure of lust, one becomes unable to extricate oneself from those pleasurable sensations. Many young people have had their lives changed by this. There are also many older men and women who, due to the addiction of lust, cannot control the desires in their hearts. When a man sees a woman, or a woman sees a man, that naturally arising desire prevents this world from ever finding peace.

Most men and women who create the karma of lust are brought back to the hells to suffer the agony of fire. Although they find the pain unbearable, they still struggle to extinguish the addiction in their hearts. It is truly pitiful! Many people, because they are so addicted to lust, can no longer awaken for the rest of their lives. When they influence or seduce others, and if this appears on multimedia, their crimes are compounded. When they are caught and brought to the hells, it is a truly unsightly scene!

Many men and women have told me that they did not intend to do these things, but they simply could not control their own hearts. I believe what they say is true, because I have seen that there are many seductive forces in the world. As Practitioner Su says, it is the lust demons that are in control. This is a major problem in the world. I am sharing what I have seen here in the hope that you can overcome these problems. You must know that your life is very precious. You must cherish it and not let these worldly desires influence you, causing you to lose the opportunity to master your own true nature and awaken.

A Final Plea

Practitioner Su's Dharma talks are truly excellent. If you know how to listen, you will find that they contain the key points—all of them are important lessons for life. If you know how to change, you can truly break through and realise your true nature!

I am now in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I can share the difference between the hells and this place. You must believe that one side is suffering, and the other is a world of ultimate bliss. This is the choice you are all facing right now. I hope you are smart enough to know what decision you should make!

Once again, thank you, Practitioner Su, for giving me this opportunity to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am truly happy and moved. I cherish this opportunity deeply, and I will practice diligently. In the future, I hope to be like Practitioner Su and help other beings. I am also grateful for the Buddha's compassion.

If my grandmother, parents, and the relatives and friends I knew in the past have the chance to see this sharing, I hope they know that I am doing very well now. I also hope they can join me in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Thank you for the kindness you showed me in the past.

I am so grateful for all of this. The Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia is truly a magnificent place. I hope the world will not miss out on such a wonderful place. May everyone escape the sea of suffering soon and be reborn together in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
