The Compassionate Rain: Ending Drought Through Namo Amituofo
Teachings from Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su
An Excerpt from A New Heart, A New Hope
Five years ago, the nation of Australia faced a dual crisis of immense proportions. Across the vast landscape, severe and unrelenting droughts parched the earth, while simultaneously, the world was gripped by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Namo Amituofo revealed that these disasters were not merely random occurrences or unfortunate accidents of nature. Rather, they were the direct result of a profound lack of Buddhist education among humanity. People were deeply entangled in their own selfishness and an intense, misguided attachment to their temporary physical bodies. This fixation caused immense, unnecessary suffering for themselves and for all other sentient beings who share this world.
The Hidden Causes of Natural Disasters
In particular, the widespread consumption of meat—especially beef—has become a significant source of karmic debt. Many people remain entirely unaware that animals possess a spiritual just as humans do. The act of slaughtering these animals generates profound resentment among their spirits. The spirits of slaughtered cattle, in particular, gathered in the sky, obstructing the natural cycle of rainfall. This led to the devastating drought, which served as a form of —the law of cause and effect manifesting in the physical world. When the collective consciousness of a society is clouded by the of greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt, the environment itself begins to reflect this inner turmoil.
The Miraculous Power of the Sacred Name
To address this, Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su began to educate the public on the vital importance of chanting the sacred name of Namo Amituofo. They taught people how to transform their personalities and purify their hearts from the inside out. Simultaneously, they guided the spirits of the cattle in the unseen realm to chant the name of Namo Amituofo. This sacred name carries the great miraculous power, the immense meritorious strength, and the fearless power of Namo Amituofo, who encompasses the entire realm. Chanting the name acts as a key that opens up the spiritual space, allowing the compassionate, boundless, radiant, and soft Buddha light of Namo Amituofo to shine forth into the darkest corners of existence.
Through Practitioner Su’s unique ability to communicate with the spirit realm, she persuaded the resentful and suffering spirits—both those lingering in the air and those residing on the earth’s surface—to let go of their deep-seated hatred and join in the chanting. Relying on the divine power, merit, and fearless strength of Namo Amituofo, the grievances and suffering of all human beings, sentient beings, animals, plants, insects, and the entire earth were finally relieved from the agony of the drought. This process of spiritual reconciliation is essential for restoring balance to the natural order.
Practitioner Su’s Compassionate Sacrifice
During that period, Practitioner Su worked tirelessly. She travelled across Brisbane, Toowoomba, and Goombungee in Queensland, Australia, teaching the wandering spirits, animals, plants, and sentient beings to chant the name of Namo Amituofo. Her dedication was absolute, and her knew no bounds. As a result of her compassionate efforts to liberate these beings from their suffering, she endured severe spiritual attacks. Spirits attached themselves to her body, invading her scalp and skin. This caused a variety of physical manifestations, including:
- Painful rashes and deep-seated ulcers
- Severe swelling and intense physical agony
- Extreme, unrelenting itching that tested her resolve
- Significant hair loss due to the intensity of the spiritual burden
Yet, she persisted without hesitation. She continued to guide wandering spirits, animals, plants, and all beings of the land to chant the name of Namo Amituofo, never once faltering in her mission to bring peace to the suffering. Her sacrifice serves as a testament to the power of the .
The First Drops of Mercy
One day, a faint and weak chant of the name of Namo Amituofo began to rise from the spirits. Suddenly, a few raindrops fell from the sky. Soon, a light drizzle followed, bringing life back to the parched soil. The spirits were astonished and overjoyed by this miracle. Encouraged by the radiant light of Namo Amituofo and the unwavering support of Practitioner Su, they continued their chanting with renewed hope and sincerity, understanding at last that there is a way to leave suffering behind and find true happiness.
The of Devotion
In the beginning, many of the participants were unfamiliar with the sacred practice of Buddha-recitation. They were hesitant, and their voices were barely audible, like a soft whisper carried on the wind. For some, the sacred name of Namo Amituofo felt foreign, and they could only manage a faint, trembling whisper. Yet, as they persisted in their practice, their hearts began to open to the profound compassion of the Buddha. Gradually, their voices gained strength and clarity. They began to chant “Namo Amituofo” with a profound sense of willingness and devotion, their voices rising in unison like a powerful, harmonious wave that reached toward the heavens.
Then, after several rounds of this sincere and heartfelt chanting, a miraculous transformation occurred. The skies, which had been parched and empty for so long, suddenly flashed with brilliant lightning and the deep, resonant rumble of thunder. A heavy, life-giving downpour finally arrived, breaking the long and arduous drought that had gripped the land. It was a testament to the power of collective sincerity and the boundless grace of Namo Amituofo.
The Earth Reborn
The rain did not merely fall; it nourished the very soul of the earth. It allowed fresh, vibrant green sprouts to emerge from the once-barren, cracked soil. With the drought lifted and the life-giving water flowing once more, the people smiled with a deep sense of relief. Their lives were fundamentally transformed by this long-awaited rainfall, which served as a physical manifestation of the inner purification they had undergone through their practice.
This event reminded everyone that the state of our environment is intimately connected to the state of our minds. When we align our hearts with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, the world around us responds in kind. The rain was not just a meteorological event; it was a blessing bestowed upon those who had turned their hearts toward the light of the Buddha.
Compassion for the Unseen
As Practitioner Su continued to send attached spirits out of her body and receive the healing power of Namo Amituofo, her physical form underwent a remarkable recovery. Her skin, which had been weathered and strained, gradually regained its vitality, and new, thicker hair began to grow on her head. This physical healing was a clear sign of the spiritual restoration taking place within her.
In the unseen realm, the atmosphere had been heavy with the presence of countless spirits of slaughtered animals. These beings, having suffered greatly, had once covered the sky like a dark, impenetrable shroud, blocking the rain and the light of the sun. Through the compassionate guidance of Namo Amituofo, Practitioner Xia Lian Ju, and Practitioner Su, these spirits were finally able to let go of their deep-seated resentment. They received the necessary deliverance and found the peace they had been denied for so long. The spirits of these beings included:
- Cattle, who had carried the heavy burden of labour and slaughter.
- Pigs, who had endured the suffering of the farm and the market.
- Chickens, whose lives were cut short in the cycle of consumption.
- Geese, who had also been caught in the web of human desire.
- Fish, who had suffered in the depths of the waters, now finding liberation in the light of the Buddha.
The Dissolution of Karmic Obstacles
The merit generated from the spirits chanting “Namo Amituofo” played a vital role in helping to dissolve the disasters that had plagued the region. Most importantly, the spirits of the slaughtered animals were finally freed from their cycle of suffering. The karmic resentment that had caused the drought had now disappeared from the sky through the removal of these hateful animal spirits. Because the resentment was cleared, the rain could return to the earth, bringing relief and renewal to both humans and the natural world.
This profound experience serves as a reminder to all practitioners that our work of saving endless suffering beings never stops. By chanting Namo Amituofo all the way, we not only purify our own body, mind, and spirit, but we also contribute to the healing of the entire universe. We must continue to practise with diligence, ensuring that we leave suffering behind and find true happiness, while extending that same compassion to all beings who are still lost in the cycle of rebirth. Namo Amituofo.
