The Same Source, The Same Origin
Teachings from Master Xuanzang
Recorded on May 25, 2019
The Eternal Cycle of Our Shared Origin
The origin of humanity is one. We all share the same source, emerging from the same root, just as a sturdy trunk branches out into many limbs. From these branches, buds emerge, blossoming into lush green leaves. The branches grow thick and dense, eventually flowering and bearing fruit. The fruit provides nourishment, while the yellowed leaves fall to the earth, returning to their source. This is the cycle of a single life. As the four seasons turn, life continues in an endless cycle. Though we may appear different on the surface, we all belong to the same source and the same origin.
The Unchanging Truth of Our Unity
We are born together, so let us not drift apart. Even if we do separate, that separation is merely a result of Causal Conditions. Within these differences, there remains a fundamental unity. We should acknowledge that we are all born from the same source. We are one body. Therefore, we should treat one another with respect. We must honour, support, and cherish each other. This is not merely an ideal; it is the absolute truth. No matter where you are or what environment you find yourself in, this truth remains constant. Your true self is eternal and unchanging.
from the Illusion of Separation
Whether we are from Hong Kong, Taiwan, or the Mainland, our ancestors are the same. We share the same yellow skin, black hair, and dark eyes. We share the same lineage, flowing from the same source. However, because of our different Causal Conditions and the fruits of our actions, we have created the six realms of existence. Our birthplaces differ, our external environments vary, and the 'self,' personal ego, and selfishness lead us further apart. When our hearts and our words do not align, we are not on the righteous path. Our spirit finds no peace, and we must return to the right path.
Returning Home to the Light of Namo Amituofo
When our hearts and words are in harmony, our Body-Mind-Spirit is balanced. Our true self emerges from the same source. When we are whole and complete, we are pure and without artificiality. Yet, layer upon layer of dust and impurity covers our spirit. Our actions mutate, causing us to become different from one another. Now that you know this, it is a great blessing. We must help one another return to our origin. Let us reflect each other's light and shine together from the same source. By revealing our true self and following Namo Amituofo, we enter the of Ultimate Bliss and restore our original nature. In the state of emptiness, we are one. Our true self is Namo Amituofo. We are all here at the Fragrant Light, all chanting the name of Namo Amituofo. The Buddha welcomes his children home, and we shall meet again in the Western Land.
This message was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
