This is a record of an interview with a group of spirits who were once elite secret agents in the Middle East. They sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. They now reside in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon their lives and their subsequent transformation. Recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on May 8, 2020.

Venerable HaiZe speaks:

"There are many small, flying insects on the ground, jumping back and forth. They are about one centimetre long, and if one were to step on them, they would bleed. I invite these beings to accept this interview."

The Spirits speak:

"Namo Amituofo. We have arrived. We have been waiting in line for a long time, eager to participate in today's assembly. We have existed in the human world for over a hundred years. Even we do not know what our current form is called, and no one has ever interviewed us like this before. We never knew it was possible to communicate with humans in this manner. The last time, some of our companions returned to inform us that their group had been sent to a place of brilliant light. They were among the few who remained behind as a rearguard to patrol the area. You may simply call us the 'Three-Terrain Elite Troops.'

The Hidden Soldiers of the Middle East

We were the secret agents of the Middle East. Back then, we were hand-picked by our nation. We were physically robust and capable of enduring the most rigorous military training imaginable! The missions assigned to us by the state were not things we could ever say 'no' to. We were required to complete our objectives in the shortest time possible. If one person could complete a task, a second person would never be deployed, because in the next second, that second person might be assigned a new duty. Now, we have fallen to such a wretched state that we can finally speak the truth. If we had spoken of our deeds while we were alive, we would have been killed instantly, and we would not even have known how we died. Our companions who were discovered met with truly tragic ends. Therefore, even if we were captured by enemy forces, we would rather die at their hands in silence than return to our own country, only to be assassinated for knowing too much.

A Life of Shadows and Steel

The things we did were horrific. We carried out assassinations—some large-scale, some small, and some targeting individuals. With nothing more than a small knife, we could ensure our target was dead within seconds. Before they could even utter a cry for help, they would have already breathed their last. We could disguise ourselves as ordinary civilians and approach our targets so closely that they would not even feel us brush against their bodies. By then, we would have already attached a miniature explosive to them. We would vanish instantly, and within seconds, they would be blown into pieces. We took pride in our agility and our lethal precision. Most of us were never destined to live to a ripe old age. Our lives were like wisps of smoke; even when we vanished from the human world, few would notice, and fewer still would shed a tear for us. We were living, breathing human beings with blood and tears, yet we were trained to become people without blood or tears.

The Irony of a Microscopic Existence

I died during one such assassination mission. My spirit, light and drifting, entered this creature that can fly in the sky, jump on the ground, and flip over on its back. Our eyes change colour with the light, and we can even swim in water. We are so insignificant, yet when we are stepped on, we leave bloodstains everywhere, lying in the gore. Perhaps the Heavens pity us. When we were human, our actions were often beyond our control. In truth, we knew that many of our missions were carried out for the sake of selfish interests and profit, simply to eliminate others. But we had no choice; we had to accept the missions. Regardless of the circumstances, since these were our deeds, we must bear the . Now, in death, we are allowed to bleed, which shows that we, too, have blood and tears. We can flip over and play dead, deceiving many natural predators and birds, which allows us to escape death for a little while longer.

A Final Plea for Deliverance

Today, we have come in great numbers. Although many of us have been stepped on and there is much blood, we believe that there are messengers of light who can lead us away from this humble, lowly existence. We are filled with gratitude! Namo Amituofo."
