This is a record of an interview with a group of sentient beings who had possessed an elderly practitioner. They sought Spiritual Deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. This account reflects upon their experiences of inhabiting a human body. Recorded on October 14, 2019.

The sentient beings speak:

"Namo Amituofo. We were once living human beings, just like you. Now, we are dead. We no longer have physical bodies; we are merely spirits, drifting aimlessly through the air, floating here and there.

The Ease of Possession

When we first entered of an elderly person, we realised just how worthless a human body truly is! Once a person passes middle age, their body becomes like an open door for us sentient beings. We can come and go as we please—anytime, anywhere. Why? Because the body of an elderly person has almost no resistance left.

The Shield of the Buddha-Name

Unless they are like the 'living Buddha' we saw earlier—someone who can keep the Buddha-name flowing in their mind without a single moment of interruption—it is nearly impossible for them to keep us out. This elderly woman had some contact with the Buddha’s teachings, but for her, maintaining a constant, unbroken recitation of the Buddha-name was an incredibly difficult task.

Accumulated Suffering

Naturally, we were able to enter her body with ease. As time passed, more and more of us accumulated inside her. How could she possibly remain healthy under such conditions? It is impossible! Of course, she would suffer from coughing and all sorts of physical discomforts. During the assembly yesterday, many sentient beings were forced out of her body, but there were simply too many of us still inside. That one Dharma assembly was like a gust of wind blowing away only a few grains of sand from the surface of a vast desert. We could not leave her body in time, and so, we have come here now seeking Spiritual Deliverance. Namo Amituofo."
