The Soul of a Virus: A Researcher's Transformation
An Interview with Wei Ming, a Spirit of the Mutated Virus
Recorded on March 13, 2020

This is a record of an interview with Wei Ming, a spirit of the mutated virus who sought salvation at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Nature. This account reflects upon his former life as a medical researcher and his subsequent existence as a spirit of the mutated virus. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on March 13, 2020.
Wei Ming speaks:
"Why does my heart ache? It has been a long time since I felt this. I only know that I must be ruthless. No matter how humanity treats me, I must be fiercer, braver, and more aggressive than they are. I cannot let humanity defeat me. I know all too well the games humans play. They gave us a very representative name: 'virus'—a poisonous thing that causes sickness. People have never really been able to do much about us. When we change, they only treat the symptoms—headache, treat the head; foot pain, treat the foot—because we are unpredictable and beyond their control.
The Cycle of Retaliatory Force
We do not usually cause trouble. What we release are the traditional viruses everyone knows. As for the new types, we only release a few occasionally, which alerts people and keeps them on guard. Most of the time, these are just small influenza viruses, and after they pass, they are merely recorded in the history of human viral outbreaks. The current large-scale great counterattack by viruses is because we have accumulated the negative energy of humanity regarding the mutation of viral cells, which has accelerated and intensified the speed of our mutation. The power of this mutation comes from the immense, destructive negative energy given to us by humans.
Facing these mutated viruses, humans have no ability to fight back, so they resort to avoidance and isolation. In truth, the human mindset toward viruses is one of total extermination, especially regarding mutated viruses, so that they can live in peace. This desire for total extermination is a form of extremely destructive negative energy. Although humans cannot currently achieve this, they do not need to take physical action; as long as they have such thoughts, this negative energy is released and acts upon us within the space.
The Nature of the Viral World
Our world of viruses is vast. We exist in the air, on human bodies, and on the surfaces of objects. We survive easily and do not die easily. We have , life cycles, family structures, and variability. Generally, young, new viruses are more aggressive, while those entering old age and death are less so. But this strength or weakness is a comparison made between two equal standpoints—it is an attitude of understanding, facing, and then protecting, rather than an act of understanding followed by destruction and annihilation. The more we are forced to survive in the cracks, the more our variability and vitality are stimulated. This is the terror of the mutated virus. We can enter the human respiratory system, especially the lungs, and divide rapidly, causing the lungs to lose their normal function, leading to death by suffocation.
Which people do we harm further? It comes from the marks on the human body. Identifying these marks is something we are very skilled at. As soon as someone appears within our range, we identify them in the shortest possible time, attach ourselves to them, and immediately take effect. These marks come from another group: the Plague Gods and their partners. They can read the memory of cells and the memories of past lives. They know what humans have done and distinguish who is the target for death or injury in this round, then they mark . We then enter the respiratory tract of the marked person to attack. This is a large-scale, coordinated operation that leaves humans unable to defend themselves, which is why they are so panicked.
The Law of Cause and Effect
Human fear of us comes from their inability to control our existence, their helplessness, and their fear of death. The laws of and cause and effect are natural laws. The controller will become the controlled; those who drive others to death will one day become the targets of those they once destroyed. Selfish humans often arrogantly assume they are the masters of other lives. One day, they will be mastered by the retaliatory force; this is fair. This is the current state of the world.
Who am I? I am a virus—a virus, the spirit of the virus that leads the division of viruses. I have a name; I am called Wei Ming. I was once a human, a kind, ordinary civilian! I was a modern medical researcher, working desperately every day to earn money to support my family. I had a child at home with a low immune system who had to be protected; otherwise, a simple cold could take his life. My wife and I protected our child with the utmost care, and through our efforts, he slowly grew up day by day.
A Father's Grief and a Life's Turning Point
When the child was four, one day the window was not closed properly, and a cold breeze blew in. The child accidentally sneezed and really caught a cold. Then came the fever, the weakness—this was our greatest fear. The child could not go out because the outside world was full of all kinds of germs. For normal humans, they have resistance to these germs and are not harmed. But for our child, he had no resistance at all. We invited doctors to our home to treat him, but he could not escape death. We were devastated. We truly did not want other parents of such children to follow in our footsteps. So, I gave up my work and joined a medical team researching viruses. From that moment, my life underwent a great transformation.
I focused on recording the changes of various viruses under the microscope, fearing that if I overlooked any detail, a fatal mistake would occur. I hoped that through understanding viruses, I could find a way to weaken their destructiveness to the human body. It was not that I wanted to destroy the viruses; humans currently have no way to directly kill viruses, only to improve the body's immune system so it is not successfully invaded and made ill. But when the body cannot improve its immunity, can we coexist peacefully by reducing the pathogenicity of the virus, so that neither side suffers? Because where there is injury, there is suffering. So, I wholeheartedly moved in this direction.
The Power of Goodness
I was amazed to discover that the kind mental notes of humans can change the destructive aggression of viruses, but that requires a very high level of good energy to achieve. Although I knew this core principle, I could not do it because my heart was not pure enough, not kind enough. In the world of viruses, understanding them, accepting them, and giving them kind, positive energy is one of the ways to weaken their toxicity, but it is not easy to do. Why is it so difficult for people to live peacefully with viruses? Because people always use strong external drugs and other methods to resist them. They do not want the virus to live and always want to destroy them to ensure their own survival. They do not know that this only stimulates the virus's resistance, making it even harder to protect the host from harm—or even if they know, they still act in this direction. This is my understanding of humans and viruses.
I devoted my heart and soul to the research of viruses. Later, I fell ill from an unknown cause. Was it heaven's arrangement? In subsequent cultures, it was found that there were many mutated viruses in my body. I was diagnosed as incurable and died. At fifty-two years old, after twenty years of viral research, I had no regrets about the research life I had led before I died. My soul was full of contemplation, and then I breathed my last. I unexpectedly became a virus—a virus, the soul of a virus. I did not have a viral body, but I could interfere with and influence the division of viruses.
The Encounter with Practitioner Su
I had tried many times, naively, to weaken the division of viruses so as not to cause harm to the host—the person being attached to—but I was treated ruthlessly by humans. It was either you die or I live. The virus groups I originally controlled were weak and non-aggressive under my guidance, but after being attacked by humans many times, they suffered heavy casualties. In such a world, our character changed; we became fiercer each time. So, the remaining virus groups began to change, and change again, becoming strong, solid, and not easily destroyed. We joined this great counterattack by viruses. The resulting pandemic, in truth, at its root, was caused by the unkind mental notes of the people themselves.
Unexpectedly, during the process, an extremely good and powerful energy appeared, saying it could save this pandemic. How could such power exist in the human world? As a mutated virus, I came to investigate. Sure enough! This was the discovery I once had but had ignored: the extremely high level of human good energy and kind mental notes can change the aggression of viruses. Such a human is Practitioner Su, who has already subdued the five Plague Gods. I came to investigate, and I was discovered by him. He restored me to my former human appearance! It is truly hard to believe! Practitioner Su actually had the ability to restore me, in my viral form, to my former human appearance! This means Practitioner Su understood that I, this viral spirit, was once human, and he had the ability to restore me to my original human form the moment he spoke to me, as if by magic. How could there be such a human? Most importantly, I read that his heart can radiate heart-light; it is extremely kind. Could it really be the manifestation of ?
Now I am settled in this quiet place called the Western Land of Dharma Nature. It is peaceful and pure—truly a fairyland on earth. Here, the chanting of Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo is constant. That is the Buddha-name often on the lips of the monastics and the elderly folks in my hometown temple. Is this the place of ? That is why it is so quiet and beautiful. I also unconsciously started chanting Namo Amituofo along with them. I, who was once a virus spirit leading the division of strong viruses, have now been transformed into a human form.
My experience is truly hard to believe, yet it is so real! The of the Buddha’s teachings was strange to us, but now we have encountered it, and it is completely different from the world we originally inhabited. Now we are in another quiet world, yet it exists in this human world—another fact that is hard to believe!"
Namo Amituofo.
