Lay Practitioner Lu Laichun, the employer of Lay Practitioner Lin Zhihua, sought deliverance through at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. She has since been reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her life and her transition to the Pure Land, recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on September 7, 2025.

Lay Practitioner Lu Laichun speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Lu Laichun. I am filled with such profound gratitude to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and to the infinite, radiant light of Namo Amituofo that has embraced me so completely. I am eternally grateful for the compassionate guidance of Practitioner Su, and for the tireless dedication of the Venerables and the entire community at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Most of all, I must thank my dear friend, Zhihua, whose kindness allowed me to finally let go of the heavy burdens of the dust-filled world and follow the Buddha-light to rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss."

The Illusion of Earthly Pursuits

"When I was first led by the Buddha-light, I was struck by a sense of overwhelming shock. It was as if a veil had been lifted from my eyes. Everything I had spent my entire life pursuing in the human world—the status, the accolades, the endless striving—suddenly appeared for what it truly was: nothing more than smoke and mirrors, fleeting as a passing cloud. All the hard work, the glamour, the worries that kept me awake at night—none of it could follow me here. I realised then that the only things that truly matter, the only things that transform into pure, radiant light to accompany me on this journey, are a kind heart, virtuous deeds, and a sincere, loving spirit."

"Sitting here on my lotus seat in the Western Pure Land, I have finally, truly understood: this is the only real home for the soul."

The True Meaning of Education

"Throughout my years in the human world, I strove to be a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a dedicated educator. I understood the weight of education; I knew that it could change a child’s life and shape the very hope of society. That is why I established schools in foreign lands and promoted education through foundations. It was the great mission of my life."

"Yet, standing before the Buddha, I have come to a deeper realisation: secular education, without the guiding light of the Buddha-, is like building a boat to navigate the vast ocean of reincarnation. It might help people cross a small distance, but it can never truly liberate them from the suffering of birth and death. Education can cultivate knowledge, ability, and character, but only the Buddha-Dharma can guide a person toward , liberation, and the peace of the ultimate truth. True, complete education is the union of secular knowledge and the Buddha-Dharma—it teaches children not only how to survive in this world, but how to find the ultimate direction of life, how to leave suffering behind and gain happiness, and how to keep the heart pure and free."

A Mother's Final Wish

"My heart is overflowing with such immense emotion here in the Pure Land. Things I could not understand or see while I was alive are now crystal clear. The educational work I laboured over was merely a part of 'worldly Dharma,' whereas the education of the Buddha-Dharma is the 'transcendental Dharma' that leads to total liberation. If only I had understood this sooner, if only I had integrated the Buddha-Dharma into my educational work while I still had the time, I believe so many more children would have gained more than just knowledge—they would have planted the seeds of liberation within their own hearts."

"My deepest concern remains for my family. My dear children, I am so happy to see that you all possess such kind hearts—your and willingness to contribute to society bring me such comfort. Now that I have been saved by the Buddha-Dharma, I finally understand its true importance and preciousness. I hope you, too, can realise that the Buddha-Dharma is the only thing that can truly protect you."

"I am so grateful for Zhihua’s help, which allowed my spirit to receive Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Practitioner Su, with her great compassion and vows, has the power to help countless suffering beings, and I am one of the many who have been saved. Today, because Practitioner Su guided my spirit, I have been able to reach the Western Pure Land. I hope my children will offer their gratitude to the Centre and to Practitioner Su on my behalf. If you could visit the Centre yourselves, that would be even better."

"I also hope that my parents and relatives will draw closer to the Buddha-Dharma. I am already in the Pure Land, and in the future, we shall be reunited here. Lu Laichun, bowing in reverence. Namo Amituofo."
