The Fundamental Truth of Existence

Impermanence is the fundamental truth of human existence. It is the underlying reality that governs every aspect of our lives, yet it is the one truth that most people struggle to accept. Those who truly perceive this reality understand that impermanence is merely an illusion, a temporary appearance. They do not allow themselves to be deceived by it, nor do they mistake the fleeting for the permanent, which is the root cause of all suffering.

Conversely, those who have not yet clearly seen this truth often suffer deeply. Because they mistake the impermanent for something solid and lasting, they become trapped in a cycle of attachment and disappointment. When the things they rely upon inevitably change, they feel the weight of that loss as a profound and personal pain.

The Dynamic Nature of Our World

We must recognise that impermanence is not a static state, but a constant, dynamic process of change. It is not something that happens only occasionally; it is the very fabric of our daily experience. Consider the various ways in which this manifests in our lives:

  • The human heart:
  • Our thoughts and intentions are constantly shifting, rarely remaining fixed on a single point. Our emotions:
  • arise and fade like clouds in the sky, never truly staying the same.Life and death: The cycle of existence is in perpetual motion, moving from birth to maturity, and eventually to transition.

Because we are accustomed to living according to our own plans, we crave stability. We want to feel that we are in control, that we understand our circumstances, and that we are respected by those around us. When sudden changes occur—such as a shift in someone’s heart, the natural ageing of , the onset of illness, or even the approach of death—we are often overcome by anxiety, fear, and even terror. We feel as though the ground beneath us has been pulled away.

Seeking the Eternal Within

It is precisely because impermanence brings such profound unease that people spend their lives searching for something eternal, something that does not change, something that is truly constant. We long for a sense of peace, a place where our hearts can finally rest and feel secure. The good news is that this eternal truth does exist. It is not found in the external world, but within our own true self. Yes! There exists the eternal, as well as the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.

This true self is possessed by every single being. It is not something we need to acquire from outside; it is already present within you. However, this magnificent truth has been covered up by layers of delusion and worldly attachment. We have forgotten who we truly are because we have been looking in the wrong direction for too long.

Returning to Our Original Nature

The Buddha’s teachings tell us very clearly that every being is a Buddha. From the perspective of Namo Amituofo, you are truly a Buddha. You have the same potential, the same wisdom, and the same capacity for greatness as the Buddhas themselves. You have simply lost your way in the midst of this impermanent life, wandering down paths that lead away from your own heart.

Namo Amituofo understands the struggles of all beings with perfect clarity. The desire of the Buddha is to help you find your way back to your true self and your original Buddha-nature. The goal is for you to stop suffering, to leave behind the anxiety of the impermanent world, and to live a life that is stable, fearless, and filled with the of the eternal.

This is the process of spiritual elevation—a journey of lifting your spirit higher and higher. It is a path of purification for your Body-Mind-Spirit, continuing until you reach the state of an awakened being. In that state, everything becomes transparent, unobstructed, and perfectly clear. You will finally understand the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, and find the happiness you have been seeking for lifetimes.
