Teachings from Namo Amituofo, recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.

The Buddha-heart is truly priceless, immeasurable, and boundless. It is completely unobstructed, free from any barriers or limitations whatsoever. Because the Buddha-heart is inherently unobstructed, it remains forever priceless, immeasurable, and boundless, existing beyond the reach of any obstruction.

The Boundless Nature of the Buddha-Heart

In this Five Turbidities and Evil World, demon crowds run rampant. Because the human heart is difficult to understand and even harder to keep upright, these demon crowds find their way in. When the heart is no longer upright, how can it remain pure? How can it ever achieve true clarity? When you are in the midst of your practice, you may find yourself moving forward and then retreating. Very few people truly succeed in achieving rebirth in the . This is because their hearts do not dwell upon the Buddha, but rather upon the affairs of people. Their hearts do not dwell upon the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, but rather upon the cycle of reincarnation and the weight of their own . Consequently, it becomes extremely difficult to purify the heart.

The Turbulence of the Human Heart

Why does the heart struggle to find purity? It is often because we are caught in the following patterns:

  • We allow our hearts to dwell on the trivialities of human relationships rather than focusing on the Buddha.
  • We remain tethered to the cycle of reincarnation and the heavy influence of our past karma.
  • We allow ourselves to be distracted by the external world, losing sight of the path to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

Because of these attachments, the heart remains clouded and unable to find the stillness required for deep practice.

The Healing Light of

Only the Buddha-heart is truly unobstructed. With its compassion and wisdom, which are both endless, it is the only force capable of confronting and pacifying the disturbances caused by demon crowds. The light of the Buddha-heart is pure; it has the power to cleanse the pollution and filth of the demon crowds and all other beings. The light of the Buddha-heart is stable; it has the power to subdue the anxiety and restlessness of the demon crowds and all other beings. The Buddha-heart is boundless; it can contain everything. The entire vastness of the Realm is something that the Buddha-heart can contain and embrace.

to Your Original Nature

Every living being possesses the same Buddha-nature as the Buddha. Every living being possesses the same unobstructed Buddha-heart, which is free from worry and free from suffering. If your heart is currently stained by turbidity, it is only because you are lost in confusion. The Buddha-heart is transparent and perfectly pure because it is free from all confusion. If your heart feels blocked and difficult to understand, it is because you have allowed obstacles to pile up. The Buddha-heart is unobstructed and possesses total knowledge because it flows in accordance with the Truth.

I hope that all of you will seek the Dharma with diligent practice. May you remove the turbidity and attain purity. May you resolve your confusion and enter a state of clarity. By doing so, you will be able to align your heart with the Buddha-heart and finally see your true self-nature. Namo Amituofo.
