Recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.

On the fourteenth of September, 2025, during the first session, Namo Amituofo offered these teachings regarding the nature of Unobstructed Wisdom.

The Essence of Unobstructed Wisdom

When we speak of being "like the Buddha," we are referring to the profound state of Lokesvararaja Buddha, the teacher of . This state also reflects the truth that all Buddhas walk the same path, sharing the same enlightened nature. Furthermore, this Buddha-nature is not something external; it is the original, true self that resides within every living being, waiting to be rediscovered.

The concept of Unobstructed Wisdom was first articulated by Dharmakara Bhikshu when he stood before his teacher, Lokesvararaja Buddha. Because he deeply understood the immense suffering of all beings, he made a solemn vow to save countless suffering beings. To fulfil this vow, he sought to attain a wisdom that is as vast and unobstructed as that of the Buddhas.

Beyond Worldly Knowledge

What is this Unobstructed Wisdom? It is a state of awareness that encompasses the four dimensions of reality: the unobstructed nature of phenomena, the unobstructed nature of principles, the unobstructed harmony between principles and phenomena, and the unobstructed interaction between all phenomena. It is the ability to act and teach without any hindrance whatsoever.

This wisdom is fundamentally different from the limited knowledge we acquire in the world. Worldly knowledge is finite and often insufficient when faced with the complexities of existence. In contrast, Unobstructed Wisdom is the only wisdom that can fully comprehend the limitations of the world while simultaneously containing the vastness of the Realm. It is a pervasive, all-encompassing wisdom that only the Buddhas can truly possess and manifest.

The Harmony of Truth and Action

Unobstructed Wisdom is not merely an infinite capacity for understanding; it is also the ability to act freely and effectively in the world. It involves a deep, thorough understanding of the philosophy of the Dharma and the true reality of all laws of the world. Those who possess this wisdom have a clear and unobstructed grasp of the Universal Principles, Truth, and the Right Path.

When one walks this path, one naturally ceases to create negative . By aligning oneself with the truth, one avoids the causes of suffering and instead experiences only the happiness of the Dharma. This is the natural result of living in accordance with the ultimate reality of the universe.

The Power to Save Beings

In terms of the Dharma, this wisdom manifests as unobstructed debate and the ability to express the truth with perfect clarity. Because the practitioner’s understanding is so profound, their teaching becomes fluid, natural, and entirely at ease. They can observe the potential of every being with perfect clarity, allowing them to teach and guide others according to their specific needs.

This wisdom ensures that beings of all different capacities can receive the actual benefits of the Dharma. By using this Unobstructed Wisdom, the Buddha helps beings leave their suffering behind and break through delusion to attain . Through his diligent practice, Dharmakara Bhikshu attained this Unobstructed Wisdom, and he now bestows this same gift upon all beings in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, enabling them to also walk the path of unobstructed action.
