The Unyielding Grudge of a Pandemic Demon

This is a record of an interview with the Fierce Hatred Demon, who was apprehended by Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He was involved in the spread of the pandemic. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on August 4, 2021.

Fierce Hatred Demon speaks:

"Hatred! Oh, the burning hatred! My only regret right now is why I was caught by Practitioner Su so quickly! It is absolutely infuriating!

This afternoon, we arrived in the vicinity of Australia. As soon as we heard that Practitioner Su was up to his new tricks again, we immediately came to find him. We had reached the end of our tether. Seeing Practitioner Su constantly trying to find ways to end this pandemic, how could we possibly let him succeed so easily? When we heard that Practitioner Su was planning to send a letter to the Prime Minister, all of us great demons were jumping with rage! Without a second thought, we rushed straight to The Head of Practitioner Su!"

Caught in the Act

"The moment I got close to his head, I prepared to use my demonic power to make him dizzy. But he discovered me! I heard Practitioner Su shout out loud. I thought he was just calling to the disciples below who were listening to the Dharma, but I never expected he was actually calling out to us! We were just about to flee when the Dharma protectors seized us, forcing us to reveal our names!

Fine! Since I have already become a demon, my courage is not exactly small. I am the Fierce Hatred Demon. You can tell by the word 'Fierce' just how much I hate! I had no intention of letting this group of humans off the hook. That includes all of you disciples here; I wanted to attack you too. It is just a pity that you all hide here every day without going out, leaving us no opportunity to strike. If I hadn't been brought here today, I would not have given up. I absolutely would have found a way to make every single one of you infected!"

A Humiliating Defeat

"Now, I cannot boast anymore. I am being held captive on this lotus seat, and I cannot pull off any of my usual tricks. I have no face left to say anything else. This is truly the most humiliating day in the two thousand-plus years that I have been a demon.

Right now, I am sitting here listening to the Dharma, trying to hear what exactly Practitioner Su is talking about. However, my arrogance is still very high. Practitioner Su might speak ten sentences, and I probably haven't taken in even one. The Buddha-name keeps ringing in my ears, and I find it extremely piercing. But after listening for a long time, my heart seems to be slowly calming down. I am trying to let my heart settle a bit more, but there is still a breath of resentment I cannot swallow. My plan was almost successful, and now it has all been shattered. My heart is still very unwilling, and I feel so frustrated!"
