Teachings from Namo Amituofo: Recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable Fa Hui, on March 6, 2026.

The Foundation of a Humble Heart

To receive teachings with humility is a profound act of surrender. It requires that a junior practitioner or one who seeks the sets aside their own subjective views, personal opinions, and rigid ideas. Instead, one must sincerely and wholeheartedly accept the guidance provided by a senior, a true spiritual friend, or a virtuous teacher. This humble receptivity is one of the primary reasons why a learner or a practitioner can make steady, diligent progress on the path. It is the fundamental mindset that every person seeking the Dharma must cultivate within themselves.

The Path of Self-Correction

If you wish to make genuine progress, you must engage in a process of deep reflection during your time of receiving instruction. You must carefully examine your past to identify any erroneous concepts that have clouded your understanding, misguided views that have distorted your perception of reality, or inappropriate practices that have hindered your spiritual growth. Once you have identified these obstacles, you must take physical action to correct them. You must be willing to let go of everything that is improper or unsuitable for your spiritual development. By relearning the correct path and putting it into practice through your daily actions, you allow your body, mind, and spirit to undergo a process of purification and clarification.

The Vessel of the Mind

For those who wish to receive teachings with true humility, please imagine your heart as an empty cup. Just as an empty cup allows pure water to be poured into it, an empty heart allows the wisdom of the Dharma to enter. This water is sweet and refreshing; it not only quenches the thirst of one who has been wandering in the desert of ignorance, but drinking it also helps to increase your and wisdom.

The Example of the Great Beings

Consider the example of . When he received teachings from Lokesvararaja Buddha, he did so with absolute sincerity and a humble heart. It was precisely because of this openness that he was able to fully receive the benefits of the Dharma as taught by Lokesvararaja Buddha. Similarly, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia—a sacred Buddha-land where Namo Amituofo truly abides—the fourfold assembly and all who come to seek the Dharma are blessed with the opportunity to receive the teachings of Namo Amituofo, the guidance of Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and the compassionate care of Practitioner Su. If you can receive these teachings with a humble heart and sincerely change your ways, you will build a solid foundation of faith. Through diligent practice and continuous purification, you will have the precious opportunity to remove your stains and defilements, ultimately leading to . Namo Amituofo.
