The Vision of Amituofo Village: A Message from Chang Yung-fa
A Message from the Spirit of Chang Yung-fa
Recorded on 14 August 2018 by Shi Faxin
Throughout my life, I, Chang Yung-fa, have always believed that giving back to society is a matter of the utmost importance. As one grows older, one naturally becomes concerned about becoming a burden to one's children and to society at large. Therefore, I have always felt that it is vital to begin performing good deeds from a young age. Any wealth I was able to accumulate was only possible because of the support and care I received from the people in our society.
A Heart of Gratitude and Loyalty
Regardless of how much the Chang Yung-fa Foundation may have understood about my benefactor, Practitioner Su, I have been, from the very beginning to the end, the most steadfast supporter of the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. I have always been a person who values deep emotions and loyalty, especially towards those who have shown me kindness and grace. From my youth, I have possessed a far-reaching vision, which is why I chose to build a career that could endure for a long time. Naturally, the desire to help others has always remained at the forefront of my mind, which is what led to the establishment of the Chang Yung-fa Foundation.
I must offer my sincere apologies to Practitioner Su. At that time, the of Chang Yung-fa had not yet fully manifested, which is why I ended up sending the Buddha statue away to others. I am not a selfish person; I believe that as long as the Buddha remains in Taiwan, it is a wonderful thing for all.
The Universal Challenge of Aging
Today, everyone is aware of the most difficult issue facing our society: the problem of caring for the elderly. This is not only a concern in Taiwan; I have heard that in other countries, the situation is even more severe. When I was young, I often thought about living in the same place with a few good friends so that we could look after one another. However, an ideal is merely an ideal. In the end, everyone drifted apart. This is the true nature of impermanence in human life.
The Sanctuary of Amituofo Village
To overcome this impermanence, I have now heard in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss that Namo Amituofo intends to establish an Amituofo Village in Australia. I offer my full and enthusiastic support for this project, as it is truly the best possible solution. Those who read this letter should certainly consider securing a place there. I have heard that it is very affordable and offers a guarantee of liberation from the cycle of rebirth.
- A Life of Chanting: Some may think that chanting Namo Amituofo all day sounds boring, but in reality, it is far from it.
- A Full Schedule: Every day at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is filled with meaningful activities.
- Spiritual Connection: I have witnessed this from the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I often join everyone in their practice.
I have only now come to realise how truly important spiritual practice is. Without it, one ages very quickly. Furthermore, the Amituofo Village is intimately connected with Namo Amituofo; arriving at the village is, in essence, equivalent to arriving in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. If I were still in the physical world, I would certainly support this initiative and introduce it to everyone I know. Now, from the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, I continue to urge everyone not to miss this opportunity. Those who secure their place early will be closer to my benefactor, Practitioner Su. This is a supreme and wonderful opportunity for all.
