The Wisdom of Letting Go: Words of Namo Amituofo
Teachings from Namo Amituofo
Recorded and transcribed by Venerable HaiZe on 14 April 2024

Teachings from Namo Amituofo, recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe, on the fourteenth of April, two thousand and twenty-four.
The Trap of Attachment
If you perceive something as existing, do not cling to it. To cling to existence is to become attached to appearances. When you are attached to appearances, you cannot be the master of your own heart, and you will find no peace. If you do not hold onto things in your heart, you can be free of them. However, if you allow them to enter your heart as existence, you become stained by them, losing the purity of emptiness. Originally, everything is empty and contains nothing. Only when you realise this can you follow conditions with ease and attain true freedom. This is how you see your original, true face.
Beyond the Illusion of Time
Everything is originally unobstructed. It is only later that we create obstacles everywhere. This distinction between original and later is merely a product of our discriminations. When you transcend the concepts of before and after, you enter a state of total harmony, boundless and vast, merging into the void. Having a heart, a spirit, and a body is the nature of the human form. We use this false body to practise True Cultivation. Even when one has a heart and a spirit but no physical body, one is simply a spirit, like all other beings. This spirit is neither born nor destroyed; it does not exist only in this life or this body. Where does it go, without beginning or end? The only ultimate destination for the spirit is the of Ultimate Bliss.
The Path to Buddhahood
Do not look far for the path to attain Buddhahood. Simply chant the six-syllable name, Namo Amituofo, all the way. Letting go of illusions to return to the truth is not far away; through the Fragrant Light, you can find your way back to your true nature. Do not cling to existence; instead, learn to let go of it. By letting go of existence, you gain the nothingness that is truly boundless. When your heart encompasses the vastness of space and the entire universe, your manifests in perfect unity. Through this, you can perform for countless beings and spirits, accumulating merit that is beyond calculation.
The Power of Merit and Deliverance
Whether you are seeking to awaken your true nature or performing Chao Du, you require the power of merit to overcome the heavy and obstacles of yourself and others. The merit of Namo Amituofo is infinite, and all who chant the name receive it. Practitioner Su also possesses immeasurable merit, which allows him to perform Chao Du for beings and spirits, helping them escape the current situation of being reincarnated in the Demon Realm due to karma, and instead, be reborn in the Western Land of Nature. By chanting Namo Amituofo, you can enter the Western Pure Land or the two good realms of humans and heavens, joining the Buddha, the teachers, and Practitioner Su in the work of saving the world.
