The Boundless Nature of the Buddha

On the thirteenth of November, 2021, during the third session of the , Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju offered profound insights into the nature of existence. We often find ourselves constrained by the linear progression of time and the physical boundaries of space. However, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju asks us to consider what truly possesses the capacity to transcend these limitations. The answer lies in the infinite reach of the Realm. Specifically, it is found in:

  • Namo Amituofo, whose body encompasses the entire Dharma Realm.
  • The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, which exists beyond our ordinary perception.
  • The Buddha-heart, the power of the Buddha, and the Buddha-actions of those who follow the path.
  • The profound and Prajna wisdom that guide all sentient beings.

The Qualities of an Awakened Being

Those who have realised their true nature possess a mind-capacity that is vast and inclusive. They embody the virtues of selflessness and . Regardless of the specific time or space in which they find themselves, those who are selfless, who have no-self, and who dedicate their lives entirely to the welfare of others are universally respected. Their spirit is not confined by the material world; it is liberated, allowing them to move freely through the fabric of existence.

Seeing Through the Veil of Time

The spirit of those who have realised their true nature is not bound by the ticking of a clock or the distance between two points. Because they have awakened, they can perceive the interconnectedness of all things. They are able to see and understand the past, present, and future as a unified whole. This is not merely an intellectual understanding, but a direct, experiential realisation of the Truth.

The Eternal Present

For those who have become a Buddha, everything is contained within the heart. Their understanding is clear and luminous, reflecting the absolute clarity of their original nature. Their heart is boundless, stretching across the infinite reaches of the universe. They do not see the past, present, and future as separate entities; rather, they see them as one, manifesting clearly in the eternal present moment. By cultivating this state of mind, we too can begin to touch the infinite and leave the cycle of suffering behind. Namo Amituofo.
