Venerable Kailin’s Reflections on the Amituofo Village

The True Path of Diligent Practice

Although I, Kailin, was a monastic, I must humbly admit that I did not possess the unwavering faith in Namo Amituofo and the Pure Land that Practitioner Su has demonstrated throughout her journey, despite her status as a lay practitioner. The achievements of Practitioner Su in her meditative skills are not the result of mere luck or chance. They are the fruit of a life lived with absolute sincerity, where every single step was taken with firm, grounded, and diligent practice. This is something that fills me with deep respect.

My life in the human world was not particularly long, yet I experienced the full cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death, just as everyone else does. I spent my days studying, working, and eventually entering the monastic life. I have studied the Buddha’s teachings alongside many other monastics and have spent many years in diligent practice with fellow devotees. When the news of my passing was announced, many were shocked because it happened so suddenly. After my life in the human world came to an end, I did not immediately reach the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. It was through the compassionate intervention of Practitioner Su at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre that I was guided into the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Looking back at that transition now, I realise that my entire spiritual destiny was transformed because I had the great fortune of knowing Practitioner Su.

The Wisdom of Humility

Upon arriving in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I finally understood that the true value of a human life is not measured by its length, but by the experiences we encounter and how we respond to them. As a monastic, I often fell into the trap of arrogance. Sometimes, our outward appearance of respect masks a subtle, internal tendency to look down upon lay practitioners. If one holds such a mindset when observing Practitioner Su, the loss is truly immense. In my time spent with her, I came to realise that Practitioner Su is, in many ways, more like a true monastic than many of us who wear the robes. I learned so much from her, and I feel a profound sense of shame for my past ignorance.

Life in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

In the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, every trace of the sorrow, suffering, and melancholy of the human world has been completely washed away. There is no suffering of the mind, and certainly no suffering of the body. Everything is pure and untainted. The fundamental roots of our human sins—the Five Desires, the Six Dusts, the pursuit of wealth, lust, fame, food, and sleep, as well as greed, anger, delusion, arrogance, and doubt—do not exist here in the slightest. In this state of absolute purity and goodness, every wish is fulfilled, and the mind takes charge of all things. Even the very air is filled with a refined and pleasant fragrance. This is the highest form of spiritual existence.

The Amituofo Village: A Gateway to Rebirth

Now, the news that Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is preparing to build the Amituofo Village is truly exhilarating! On this sacred land of Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, which serves as a Western Land on earth, the construction of these residences for those seeking rebirth is a vital stepping stone. Everyone who resides there will have the precious opportunity to be guided by Practitioner Su toward rebirth in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This project is a tangible manifestation of the great compassionate vow of Namo Amituofo.

I sincerely offer my blessings and hope that all those who have the karmic affinity to hear this news will join in this effort. Let us build together, live together, and work together to prepare for our journey to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, thereby fulfilling the great vow of rebirth. Namo Amituofo.
