Witnessing the Inconceivable: Practitioner Su's Deliverance
An Interview with Venerable Hailiang in the Western Dharma-Nature Land
Reflections on the Thrice Yearning Ceremony
This interview features Venerable Hailiang, who currently resides in the . He shares his profound observations of the performed by Practitioner Su during the , which was recorded on September 18, 2023. This account was recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable Haize.
Venerable Hailiang speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Hailiang. This is the second time I have witnessed the Chao Du process of our temple's Practitioner Su from the Western -Nature Land. How is it that it felt so different from the last time? To be honest, even though I thought I was prepared to observe closely, I was caught off guard. Her Chao Du was like a series of whirlwinds—the speed was absolutely incredible! I simply could not keep up with the pace of Practitioner Su's work.
A Whirlwind of Deliverance
At the start of every circumambulation of the Buddha, Venerable Changren and the others are already in their positions. Once Practitioner Su takes her place and raises her hand, it is a signal for everyone to be ready. At that very moment, I can see countless manifestations of Practitioner Su emerging from her head, like multiple bodies. Those present at the ceremony cannot see these manifestations, but we can see them clearly from the Dharma-Nature Land.
Venerable Changren and his team are already assigned to follow each of these manifestations. Once they emerge, they disperse instantly to various locations, beginning with the site of the Dharma assembly itself. These manifestations work simultaneously; some are at the ceremony site performing Chao Du for spirits, while others surge upward into the sky to perform Chao Du for beings in the heavenly realms and the sages of the four realms.
The Multi-Dimensional Reach of the
Practitioner Su's Dharma Body expands in every direction. I could not possibly keep track of every scene. I saw some Dharma Bodies flying into the sky during the ceremony, chanting the names of the Twelve Lights while being followed by countless Bodhisattvas from the universe, the Milky Way, and new Buddha-disciples. Some of these Dharma Bodies pushed aside the clouds to observe, and even upon reaching the clouds, they would 'pop' into countless manifestations. The sky became filled with Practitioner Su, with Namo Amituofo leading the way in front. The Bodhisattvas of the salvation team followed her Dharma Body, pushing the beings dwelling within the clouds forward. In an instant, the thick clouds vanished without a trace.
Namo Amituofo radiated brilliant Buddha-light throughout the entire venue, and many beings knelt down to kowtow. Most of the beings dwelling within the clouds, accompanied by many beings from the ceremony site, moved forward together into the golden light. Some of the cloud-dwelling beings entered the memorial tablets scattered across space. Meanwhile, the Twelve Lights of the Buddha resonated continuously, as if performing purification, and then more purification for everyone.
Beyond the Physical Realm
I could see many Dharma Bodies dispersing, flying across the oceans, and spreading over Taiwan, Hong Kong, mainland China, Japan, and the seas and lands of Southeast Asia. Everyone was bringing the Buddha-light and the Buddha-name to those places simultaneously. As Namo Amituofo's Buddha-light illuminated the entire land, many spirits, who seemed accustomed to seeing Practitioner Su appear, followed along by chanting the Buddha-name, waiting for the light of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. Some were simply drawn into the light, while others were guided into the Buddha-light by the Dharma Bodies, external Bodhisattvas from the cosmos, or new Buddha-disciples. There are no limitations of time or space; at the same moment, many manifestations of Practitioner Su were performing Chao Du for different beings in different places.
The most significant thing I saw was the layers of space. These spaces are incredibly fine and thin, like layers of paper stacked one upon another. The complexity of these layers was so profound that it felt as though my vision was straining to comprehend them! The Dharma Body enters directly into these paper-thin spaces. Once inside, the space is vast—like a large house containing smaller rooms, with space within space. Each Dharma Body can further manifest into countless manifestations.
The Twelve Lights and the Liberation of Beings
I entered these spaces to observe, and I still saw more spaces; each one is like a world unto itself. You can see beings you recognise, but there are so many you could never finish seeing them all, and you never know what kind of beings you will encounter. When each being sees the light, some wake up, and some do not. Those who wake up hear the call, 'Walk towards the light, walk towards the light,' while the Buddha uses a vacuum-like force to draw the beings into the golden light. Thus, space is not limited to the Earth we see with our physical eyes.
I noticed that in the spaces above the ocean, there seemed to be more young people; they were clearly young beings. As the Twelve Lights followed Practitioner Su, the beings in these spaces were initially stunned, not knowing what to do upon hearing the Buddha-name. I saw that in every space, whenever the names of the Twelve Lights were invoked—Infinite Light, Boundless Light, Unobstructed Light, Unequalled Light, Wisdom Light, Constantly Shining Light, Pure Light, Joyful Light, Liberating Light, Peaceful Light, Light Surpassing the Sun and Moon, and Inconceivable Light—the space became filled with many colours. It was colourful and beautiful, and the beings were astonished. The Buddha, along with the golden light and Buddha-light that appeared, filled the entire space, making it look very bright. The Buddha simultaneously attracted many beings into the light.
A Universal Salvation
Regarding the Chao Du on the mainland, the Dharma Body not only entered the densely packed spaces to perform Chao Du for the creatures and crawling beings on the land but also for many ghosts within those spaces. Because of the arrival of the Dharma Body, these spaces were opened, allowing them to escape and have the opportunity for liberation. Whether on the ground or on the sea, Chao Du was happening in these spaces simultaneously.
Wherever the Twelve Lights are present, the sky takes on colours, much like the colourful sky that appeared above Practitioner Su's head during her drive from Brisbane to Toowoomba. The spirits attached to people were also delivered together. In fact, wherever the Dharma Body goes, there is no distinction between day and night; people are always present, so it can be said that the spirits attached to them were also delivered, though the people themselves were unaware of it. This is truly an interesting phenomenon.
As for the Chao Du in the universe, it was also magnificent. Practitioner Su's Dharma Body was barefoot, flying very fast, from the sky up through the twenty-eight heavenly realms and into the Four Sacred Realms. It was all the same situation. In those ten-plus minutes of circumambulation, Practitioner Su's Dharma Body travelled to many countries and performed Chao Du for many beings. Even the water molecules of the Four Dragon Kings' oceans, as well as the water molecules in the rivers and streams on land, would fly up, likely because the Dharma Body had dived into the rivers and seas. Namo Amituofo."
