A Businessman's Vision for the Dharma
An Interview with the Spirit of Lin Zhaoxing
Reflections from the Western Land of Dharma Nature
This is a record of an interview with Lin Zhaoxing, who sought [Spiritual Deliverance] at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Nature. This account reflects upon his life as a businessman in the late 20th century and his current spiritual insights. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on April 12, 2026.
Lin Zhaoxing speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. Looking back at the various events of the human world, my heart is filled with nothing but profound gratitude. I am deeply thankful to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su for bringing such a unique and precious gift to humanity—a gift that truly enables people to enter the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss after they pass away. Initially, there were not many who believed in this, but if you look around today, you will see that more and more people are coming to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre seeking Chao Du. They are arriving from all corners of the globe—from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and many other nations. From this, it is evident that the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre has slowly but surely begun to find its place in the hearts of the people. While the pace may not be lightning-fast, the number of those who hold unwavering faith in the Centre is growing steadily."
The Future of Hsiang Kuang
"The truth that Namo Amituofo truly abides at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is gradually surfacing. Perhaps many people cannot yet perceive it, but from my perspective in the spiritual realms, I can clearly see that over the next decade, the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre will inevitably enter the hearts of the public in an even more profound and engaged manner. It will step by step complete its various promotional efforts and the cultivation of talent. When I speak of 'cultivating talent,' I am referring to the acquisition of the world-saving skills possessed by Practitioner Su—a rarity that is truly difficult to encounter in this world. Regardless of where a person comes from or their age, if they can truly inherit these skills from Practitioner Su, it will allow the ray of hope for this world to be extended once more, and the transmission of the Buddha’s teachings will be able to flourish again. When I, Lin Zhaoxing, contemplate this, I feel truly excited."
"I was originally born in Northeast China. During the era of reform and opening up, many people followed the national path of economic development to pursue business ventures. I, too, gradually became a small business owner, striving to establish myself in society and achieve something significant. In the 1980s and 90s, it was precisely the rise of such small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in many coastal cities that gave the nation’s economy such a remarkable boost. I was one of those small, wealthy merchants in the Northeast region. I would not dare to call myself a 'great tycoon,' as my fame at the time was not particularly high, but in terms of wealth, the money I earned was certainly enough to have provided the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre with excellent development opportunities and support. It is a great pity that the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre had not yet been established at that time, and now, I no longer possess a human body."
A Past Life in Commerce
"Haha! When I think about it, it is quite a regrettable thing, but it does not matter. That I am now able to express these thoughts from the perspective of the spiritual realms is, in itself, a path opened by the of Namo Amituofo. It is truly an extraordinary experience. At the time, my business in the Northeast was developing exceptionally well, and I later expanded my operations overseas to market in various countries. Consequently, before I reached the age of forty, I chose to immigrate to the Western United States, hoping to continue expanding my business opportunities there. This series of experiences is why I am here today, speaking as a person from the business world. In the businesses I managed, the aspect I valued most was promotion; the methods of marketing were something I cared about deeply."
"Of course, the promotional methods used in the era I lived in are vastly different from those of today’s society. I would like to use today’s promotional methods to briefly explore how the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre can proceed in this regard, so that more people in the world have the opportunity to come to know the Centre. From my current vantage point in the Dharma-Nature Land, I can see that the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre has one distinct advantage: it is filled with talented people. Although the number of people is not large, there are individuals in the temple right now from different countries and different cultures. Therefore, the pulling force of Dharma affinity can reach across various nations and regions, which is a truly rare and precious phenomenon."
Marketing the Dharma
"This 'reaching across' means that the people at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre can create a wealth of materials that are easy to promote. For example: First, well-organised teachings, interview transcripts, or various types of media content. Second, the various materials from Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks and their post-produced versions. These diverse resources can be promoted in different regions by various individuals, and everyone can pool their strength to translate these materials into different languages. Currently, people from different countries are already working on translation tasks for various regions, which is also a truly commendable effort."
"Although it may seem that the effects are not yet visible and that not many people have truly seen these interview transcripts and teachings, as the saying goes, 'all things are difficult at the start.' I believe this beginning is already underway. If these precious materials can be circulated in different languages, they will have a profound impact and provide great assistance to future generations. Everyone must not underestimate the work you are doing right now; it is laying a massive foundation for subsequent continuous promotion and outreach. When I, Lin Zhaoxing, left the Northeast, I once worked in the production, printing, and layout of magazines in the 1990s. Later, when I came to the Western United States, it was by following such business opportunities that I arrived there. At that time, there were already quite a few Chinese people who had immigrated to the United States, and many Chinese had settled in the West. Therefore, I felt that if I could develop projects such as magazines or columns primarily for the Chinese community, there would be a unique path for development that would not conflict with others. This was the reason I followed those business opportunities to the United States."
A Global Strategy for the Dharma
"At this moment, I can also see that the people at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre are putting a great deal of effort into the promotion of the temple. One such effort is the printing and layout of books, with the hope of circulating and promoting the most precious teachings or interview transcripts of the temple to the world in printed form. Beyond physical books, there are, of course, e-books. From what I can see, everyone is already in the process of preparing these, which makes me, Lin Zhaoxing, feel very gratified. Everyone is bravely attempting various platforms and languages for promotion. Although it has not yet fully unfolded, it is already in progress, which is excellent news. From my current perspective, my earnest advice to everyone is this: do not give up on anything you are currently doing. This is absolutely a vital process for the temple to slowly move toward the whole world and enter the hearts of the people."
"Although there is much work to be done, and it is complex, with content being revised again and again, these step-by-step accumulations are efforts made for the greater promotion that everyone will undertake once the temple opens its doors further. Do not underestimate the work you have in your hands. The various efforts made to ensure that the Buddha’s teachings can take deep root and flourish at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, and to make the fact that 'Namo Amituofo has come to this world' widely known, are all extremely precious. If you can develop step by step from here, when the temple has more stable resources and materials, it will be even more advantageous to conduct further large-scale promotion and advertising. After listening to the interviews of the two previous speakers, I must say that what they said was truly brilliant. They provided everyone with very authentic ways to promote the fact that Namo Amituofo at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is surfacing. Therefore, I think I might talk about the second stage of promotion today, or perhaps, in terms of regions, this will be the focus of the second stage of promotion."
"I strongly agree with what everyone said earlier about using Taiwan as the initial region for development and promotion. This point is very well made because Taiwan possesses such resources and conditions, as well as an innate advantage: Practitioner Su himself comes from Taiwan. Therefore, in terms of the pulling force of Dharma affinity, Taiwan will be the first region for promotion. If Taiwan can develop deep roots and show some results, I suggest that the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre can move toward the overseas Chinese market. As of now, promotion in mainland China is already proceeding very hotly. Following the current level of development, I believe that although mainland China has many restrictions, as people spread the word from one to ten, and ten to a hundred, coupled with the public’s thirst for the Buddha’s teachings, it will certainly be possible to have very good promotion there. On this point, because of the restrictions in many countries, perhaps Practitioner Su and the people in the temple cannot currently conduct large-scale promotional activities on the ground, so you can let the Dharma affinity naturally carry out the promotion in the mainland region."
"Of course, there is much that the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre can do, which is to provide as many resources and as much support as possible to help the local people carry out promotional work in their areas, especially the regular organisation and output of various Buddha-words, teachings, and interview transcripts, so that people in mainland China can obtain the most precious teachings and information in a timely manner. The overseas Chinese community is a very large group. Although they are scattered all over the world, most of them can communicate using Chinese as their mother tongue or second language. Because everyone grows up in different cultural backgrounds, the cultural influence they receive and their level of absorption vary; these people may understand the local cultures better. If you can use people who understand Chinese as a starting point, it will be of great help to the promotion of Buddhist education in various places. Taking the United States as an example, there are many Chinese living there who can speak Chinese and also speak fluent English. If Buddhist education can be popularised in their hearts, and some of them come to believe in the Buddha, they will be able to promote it to local Westerners or people of various countries in a more unique way. Because they were born and raised there, they understand the local culture better. By extension, if you want to promote the Buddha’s teachings to people in Europe, the United Kingdom, Southeast Asia, and other countries, this is actually a more direct and convenient way. This will help the education of Namo Amituofo at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre establish recognition in the hearts of people of all races. Even if they cannot truly realise the state of being free from aging, free from illness, and that the spirit does not die, at least they can achieve the beginning of planting seeds, as 'once it enters the ear, it becomes a seed for the Path forever.' I believe this is a very important matter for the world. This is precisely why Practitioner Su is so actively setting up 'Namo Amituofo' billboards all over the world: First, it can save many beings in the spiritual realms, allowing everyone to follow the light to arrive here, and subsequently enter the Western Land of Dharma Nature. This is a very magnificent and rare work of saving the world."
"Secondly, although these billboards are placed in various locations across the globe, if they can successfully capture the attention of both the local spiritual realms and the human society, they will achieve the profound effect of 'Once it enters the ear, it becomes a seed for the Path forever.' Think about it—when people see these messages once, twice, or even three times, the wisdom of the Buddha’s teachings will slowly but surely take root within their hearts. This is how the light of Buddhist education can continue to shine, ensuring that it can be passed down to future generations without end."
The Seeds of the Path
"This is the very beginning of a deep Dharma affinity, and we must never, ever overlook its significance. It is a matter of the utmost importance! Finally, I, Lin Zhaoxing, wish to express once more my earnest and heartfelt hope for the promotion of the Buddha’s teachings from the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to every corner of the world. For the fourfold assembly of disciples currently residing within the temple, this is something you should feel profoundly blessed and happy about. To be alive during this golden age of the Buddha’s teachings, and to be able to participate together in the noble work of promotion and dissemination—what an immense accumulation of it must take to be able to do such a thing!"
A Call to Future Generations
"You should all be deeply grateful to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su for bringing you the highest form of education, and for the immense compassion shown in inviting spirits to receive teachings. This is such a rare and precious experience! Everyone must seize this moment, practice with diligence, and truly master the skills of Practitioner Su. Only then will you have the capability to carry forward this supreme skill of saving the world."
"I, Lin Zhaoxing, no longer possess this physical body, and I must admit, I feel a touch of helplessness—it seems impossible for me to participate with my own hands as I once did. But it truly does not matter. Watching all of you work so tirelessly here fills my heart with a that is beyond words. I sincerely pray that the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre will truly reach into the hearts of every person on this earth, allowing everyone to understand what it truly means to be free from aging, free from illness, and to realise that your spirit never dies."
Gratitude from the Western Land
"I am eternally grateful for the Chao Du performed by Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. It allowed me, Lin Zhaoxing—a spirit who was once aimlessly drifting through the vast spaces of mainland China—to have the incredible opportunity to be delivered by the Twelve Lights and arrive here at the Western Land of Dharma Nature. Although I have not been here for long, I am deeply thankful to the Buddha for granting me this precious opportunity to share my story."
"If Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su still require me, Lin Zhaoxing, to do more or to speak further on any matter, I will certainly do my absolute best to fulfil that request. Gratitude to Namo Amituofo, gratitude to Practitioner Su."
"Namo Amituofo."
"Lin Zhaoxing"
