A Call to Awakening from the Beyond

The Forty-Second Letter of the Late Venerable Master Wei Chueh

Recorded on August 9, 2017

This message was recorded on August 9, 2017, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. It features the late Venerable Master Wei Chueh, who, having sought deliverance, now resides in the spiritual realm and reaches out to his former disciples to guide them toward the Truth.

Venerable Master Wei Chueh speaks:

"Immeasurable Wisdom and immeasurable virtuous capabilities—this is the magnificence of the Buddha’s teachings. Can you all see the immeasurable realm of emptiness? It is in dire need of ."

The Illusion of Rituals

"Within the Chung Tai world, I do not see a single truly authentic Dharma assembly. Truly, there is none. This is because most of them are mixed with too much that is not genuine. Without this authenticity, how can there be the power to lead beings to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss? I do not want you all to be entangled with countless spirits. Have you ever stopped to think about where these spirits go if they are not successfully delivered?"

"To all of you—whether you are a lead monastic, a monastic wielding the Dharma instruments, or a monastic guiding the assembly—the conduct of a Dharma assembly is never just about the external form. In truth, substance is far more important than form. A sincere, compassionate heart is the essential key to any Chao Du ceremony. My Buddha’s allowed the development of the Chung Tai world, leading so many people to believe in the Chung Tai Chan Monastery and study the Buddha’s teachings. As monastics, we cannot ruin the Wisdom-life of the masses."

The Barrier of

"The fourfold assembly of disciples—I see you all very clearly. You still harbour selfishness in your hearts. With such a character, it is impossible to be in harmony with the Dharma realm of emptiness. Because, first of all, your mind-capacity is insufficient. How, then, can you receive and guide beings?"

"Chao Du is truly not an easy task. However, once you understand the principles—the application of Truth—Chao Du can become very simple. It can permeate the entire Dharma realm of emptiness, immeasurable and boundless. It all depends on how vast your heart is. My children, I believe that your hearts are fundamentally pure and Good. It is just that these subtle aspects of your character have been neglected. Now, I have come to tell you all again."

A Final Plea to My Disciples

"To the fourfold assembly of disciples, know that I, your old master, truly still exist. The Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre has already received verification from the outside world one after another. Why do you clearly harbour doubts, yet dare not step forward? I am now a spirit, coming and going freely, possessing all supernatural powers. I see everything very clearly. Of course, I also repent for all my ignorance in the past—enjoying the title of a monastic while being greedy for fame and wealth, spending my days not acting like a practitioner at all."

"Now, I do not want you all to walk the path I once took. You must come and find me. Venerable Jian Deng, your master is calling for you constantly. Will you not make the trip? A flight is not that far, and it does not take much time, yet it will influence your destiny for immeasurable eons. You must listen to your old master’s words. Time may not always be on our side; sometimes, it becomes impossible to save those who have fallen too far. I hope it is still in time. May the Buddha’s compassion protect you all."

"Written by Wei Chueh."
