This is a record of an interview with Zhang Yaping, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the celestial realms to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on January 23, 2026.
Zhang Yaping speaks:
" to everyone! I am Zhang Yaping. By the standards of the human world, I lived a very long life; I was a truly blessed centenarian. But the most inconceivable thing of all is that, even after passing away, I have arrived here in the magnificent Western Land of Ultimate Bliss! This is the world of Namo Amituofo! I have only just arrived, so I am still filled with such awe and wonder. I am deeply grateful to Namo Amituofo and to Practitioner Su. To my family, especially my wonderful daughter-in-law, Miaojuan, I am so thankful that she encountered the Buddha and performed Chao Du for our family. I feel a sense of shame that such a small matter required everyone to go to such great lengths to help me, but I am truly grateful that I have attained rebirth, allowing me to be the first to come forward today to share my story with you all."
From the Celestial Realms to the Western Pure Land
"As a woman nearing one hundred years of age, I did not suffer much after my passing. It felt as though, in the very instant my breath ceased, I found myself in the heavens, among the celestial beings. It was brighter there than in the human world, and I had always assumed that was the most brilliant, luminous place imaginable. Little did I know that, not long ago, I suddenly heard a warm, resonant voice calling out, 'Zhang Yaping!' Then, a golden light, even more radiant than anything I had ever seen, enveloped me. In another instant, I was transported to a place called the Western Land of Nature. It was far brighter than the heavens, the air was purer, and the fragrance of lotus flowers was everywhere.
The most indescribable part of this journey is that, through the sounding of the qing by Practitioner Su, we were brought directly to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This did not come as a surprise, however, because I had already prepared myself. When someone had asked me earlier if I wished to go to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I had already given my consent. Because I had made that choice, I arrived here today—at my final destination, the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss."
The Fragility of Life and the Power of Deliverance
"Over these past few years, I spent a quiet time drifting between the human world and the celestial realms. Although I was free from pain, I lacked a clear direction; I did not know that there was such a thing as saving others. It was only after my daughter-in-law, my wonderful Miaojuan, performed the Chao Du for me that I was able to reach the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Looking back on this journey, I cannot help but feel deeply moved by how difficult it is for people in the world to truly be the masters of their own destiny, especially when it comes to the monumental event of life and death! I have been blessed with immense good fortune to have had such a smooth path, avoiding all suffering after my passing.
While I was in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I spent time observing the people in the human world. Many of them, just like I once was, spend their entire lives in a state of constant, frantic busyness, only to find that most of them never have the opportunity to reach the heavens, let alone the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. They live such difficult, painful lives. Some become wandering spirits with no purpose; others are trapped within their own confined spaces, unable to break free; and some, tragically, must descend into the hells to endure suffering."
A Message of Gratitude to My Daughter-in-Law
"My heart is overflowing with gratitude, and I will cherish this wonderful Causal Condition with all my being. My daughter-in-law, Miaojuan, I am so grateful to you for encountering the Buddha! You are the most blessed person in our entire family. Such an opportunity is rare and precious—it is something one can only hope for, not demand! You must cherish this opportunity well. If you can introduce more people to Namo Amituofo and the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, you will have succeeded! Let more people come to know the Buddha and the true Buddha’s teachings. I believe that you can contribute your strength to this cause in Singapore!
