A Father's Guidance from the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss
A Letter from Lee Kuan Yew to His Son
Recorded on August 15, 2018

Hsien Loong, my son, do you know that in the of Ultimate Bliss, one no longer needs to contemplate the complex schemes and strategies of this world? Being a person in this human world is truly exhausting. It is only after arriving in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss that I have truly come to realise this. When I was still involved in the heavy burdens of politics, I did not feel this truth so deeply. The environment of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is truly comfortable and at ease; it lacks the endless, tangled complexity that defines the human world.
The Weight of the World
You seem not to fully understand the nature of this place. If I speak of it as a chance to relax, you might be able to grasp the idea. You are busy every single day, caught in the relentless current of worldly affairs. When you reach a point where you can no longer manage the weight of it all, how will you decide your next step? You are well aware of the concept of fate, yet the reality of impermanence is something that is incredibly difficult to overcome. No matter how much one plans, the shifting nature of existence remains a challenge that no political strategy can solve.
An Invitation to True Peace
I truly hope that you can find the time to come to Australia. Treat it as a holiday, if you must, but come and see this pure environment for yourself. You will find that this is a place where one can stay for a long time, for it is very good here. It is a sanctuary that mirrors the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss itself. I urge you to practise diligently and learn the true meaning of the Buddha's teachings. Only then will your life not have been lived in vain. I am fully aware that it was my own guidance that led you into the life you are currently leading. However, if my words can still serve to help you awaken, I sincerely hope that you will make the journey here to visit.
The True Meaning of Achievement
The affairs between siblings are common in this world, and they often lead to unnecessary suffering. However, coming here to purify your own heart and mind is far more important than any worldly dispute. I have only now come to understand what true achievement is. To be able to let go of one's own self—to release the ego and the attachments that bind us—that is what truly counts as a genuine achievement. I hope that you can believe in all of this, for it is the path to lasting peace.
