A Father's Journey from Suffering to Ultimate Bliss

Sun Fulin, the father of Sun Fengge, sought deliverance through the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Having been liberated from the cycle of suffering, he now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on December 26, 2025.

Sun Fulin speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I have finally arrived at this place. My son, I am so grateful to you! Remember this: the suffering I once endured is a mirror for your own life. Keep that in your heart.

A Return to the Pure Land

Today, as I stand here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, my very first feeling is: Heavens, this place is truly magnificent! It feels as though I have been here before; there is no sense of strangeness at all. I have arrived in this Buddha-land so naturally, filled with a gratitude and emotion that words simply cannot express. Thankfully, Namo Amituofo is so compassionate. He has been shining His light upon me, as if to tell me not to be so nervous. He welcomed me with such boundless mercy—I am truly, deeply grateful!

And Practitioner Su is also a Buddha. When you first pulled me up from the tortures of hell, I was still trembling, still gripped by fear. During these days in the Western Dharma-Nature Land, I have truly been purified. My entire being is different from what it used to be; not a shadow of my former self remains. My temper is gone, and everything is so peaceful and at ease. Whatever I need, it is there. Afflictions and resentment are impossible here. All that remains is endless joy and a sense of calm, as if a great weight has finally been lifted from my soul.

A Message to My Son

My son, I am so thankful to you! The karmic affinity you share with the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is truly miraculous. You have saved your father, and in doing so, you have saved many other beings as well. You see, the debts I owed to others in my past life were so vast that I could never have repaid them on my own. But at least I have found the correct path now. From here on, my path is to honestly follow the Buddha's teachings. Even here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, one cannot be lazy; one must actively follow the Buddha's lead. I must not let down the Buddha's compassion, nor your filial piety and dedication. My own life is not important, but the fact that more people can be saved—that is of the utmost importance!

The Suffering of Our People

Therefore, if you can, you must actively promote Namo Amituofo and the work of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. We Chinese people suffer so much! Our suffering stems from the fact that we have lost our direction. Aside from money, status, and family, what is left in life? In the end, it all amounts to nothing—it is all just chasing our own fleeting feelings. It is such suffering! I see the people here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and every single one of them is beaming with joy. With just one smile, I can recognise who a person is. Isn't that miraculous? In truth, we are all connected by karmic affinity. It is only our various separations and reunions that have locked us into these positions, but in reality, we are all one! This is something I only learned after coming here and getting to know Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su.

A Final Word of Advice

Before I passed away, my personality was very strong. My temper and my arrogance were truly not good, and I deeply repent for not having set a better example. However, I also know that back then, I could not control myself. So, I will no longer look at the past. Now, I am focused entirely on learning from Namo Amituofo. I hope that one day my wisdom will fully awaken so that I can help more beings who are connected by karmic affinity. That is the true meaning of rebirth in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss! Otherwise, enjoying this bliss all by myself would be meaningless. This is my heartfelt wish, and it is also some advice for all of you. Remember to tell the people around you that Namo Amituofo has truly come to our world. Focus on cultivating yourself, regardless of what others say, so that you will not be left with any regrets!

Well, I have said enough for now. I hope that one day you, too, will step onto the soil of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss and be with the Buddha.
