This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Wen Liang, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition from the human world to the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on January 17, 2026.
Wen Liang speaks:
". Hello to everyone. I am Wen Liang. Today, I am speaking to you from the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. If I were to count the time, it has been over a day since I arrived here from the human world. It truly has not been an easy journey! What is most incredible is that people often think that once you die, everything is over—that you become nothing. But in my case, I encountered something so magnificent: my own child performed Chao Du for me!
A Miraculous Transition
When I first realised what was happening, I felt the brilliant, golden light of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su shining directly upon the crown of my head. It was so bright, so radiant! In a single instant, I was drawn to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. It is a true world of the Buddha! I was filled with such deep emotion at that moment. When I was alive in the human world, I did not fully understand how beautiful Namo Amituofo and the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss truly were. To have the blessing of arriving here after my passing—it means my life was not lived in vain. Of course, if my child can follow Namo Amituofo closely, practise diligently while he still possesses a human body, and find his true nature, then his life will also be truly fulfilled!
A Father's Pride and a Son's Duty
Speaking of this, my heart is filled with thoughts of my son. My dear son, I know that life is not easy for you. There are always so many burdens and responsibilities to face in the human world, but please know that your father is proud of you. Of course, what I am most proud of now is that my son knows of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and had the wisdom to arrange for my Chao Du. To know the Buddha is the greatest achievement of all! In the past, I did not understand these things, and I would not have known how to speak of them. But this time, everything is different. While I was in the Western Land of Nature, I gained a profound understanding of the impermanence of the human world and how little control we truly have over our own lives. Even for you, my son—although you are a good person—there are so many beings influencing your body and mind. I can see this so clearly from here. If you can follow the practice schedule provided by Practitioner Su and find the time to listen to the sutras, you too will become a person of great capability!
The Urgent Need for the Dharma
Our family, and indeed our entire nation, is in great need of Buddhist education. Think about it—our vast land of China has produced so many ancestral masters and sages throughout history. This shows that our country has a deep moral foundation. The fact that the Buddha has come to Australia is a significant Causal Condition for this era. I see it all so clearly now, and it is wonderful. Every person in the world needs to know Namo Amituofo. From here, I can only do a little bit to help, but you, in the human world, have so much potential to contribute. Being able to promote the work of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is a truly magnificent thing. In all honesty, you must cherish these Causal Conditions.
A Heart Aligned with the Buddha
Well, my son, I have said all that I needed to say. My heart is now completely aligned with the heart of the Buddha. I no longer look back at the past, and I do not dwell on those memories anymore. However, I am truly grateful to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. I am also grateful to you, my good son, for not forgetting your father. I know all of this, and I hold it deep within my heart.
