A Grandfather's Journey to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss
An Interview with the Spirit of Lay Practitioner Xiong Guimao
This is a record of an interview with Xiong Guimao, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his life and his transition to the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on December 26, 2025.
Lay Practitioner Xiong Guimao speaks:
"Namo Amituofo to everyone. I am Xiong Guimao. I just saw the interview with my wife, Chen Maonv, and I never expected that it would be my turn so soon! It is all so surreal. To think that after all this time, I have finally returned to the seat of Namo Amituofo. It feels like a dream, yet it is more real than anything I have ever known. Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo. I am filled with such immense gratitude for Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su."
A Miraculous Deliverance
"We live in such a remarkable era—a time when there are still beings who can realise their true nature, attain Buddhahood, and travel back and forth to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss to guide lonely spirits like us into the Buddha’s world. It is truly a blessing beyond words! And of course, my wonderful grandchildren! You did not forget your old grandfather. You remembered me, and you helped me through the Chao Du process to reach this magnificent place. As your grandmother said, we are truly blessed!
I was so surprised when it happened. I remember Practitioner Su leading me to the Western Land of Nature, with Namo Amituofo right there beside us. I was terrified at first—I thought it was the Day of Judgment! But then, I found myself in this incredibly beautiful, radiant world. Who would have thought that such a wonderful thing could happen to me? I could finally enter this bright, luminous world! Namo Amituofo! I owe it all to you, my dear grandchildren."
Reflections on a Life and the Path Ahead
"When I was alive, I like to think I was a decent man. I had my own quirks, of course, and things I held dear, but I was a responsible person. However, the world after death was not particularly pleasant. It wasn't exactly hellish, but it was hazy, confusing, and completely devoid of purpose. I didn't have the great merit that your grandmother had, but I made it through. And today, arriving here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is the most perfect ending I could have ever hoped for.
Look at me now! This old man has been transformed. I feel younger than I ever did in my prime, and I look better, too! The Eight Meritorious Waters of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss have washed away all the weariness of my past, leaving me feeling completely renewed. You must all come here, too! It would be such a tragedy to miss out on this."
A Final Plea to My Descendants
"Looking back on the days I spent wandering after my passing, I now realise how vital it is to know the Buddha—especially Namo Amituofo. You are all so fortunate to have encountered the Buddha’s teachings; you must seize this opportunity with both hands! Do not think you have all the time in the world. You are not young anymore, so please, stop wasting your lives. Follow the Buddha, improve yourselves, and chant Namo Amituofo. That is more important than anything else. If I had known how wonderful Namo Amituofo was back then, I would have rushed to follow Him immediately!
Well, I have said what I needed to say. I hope you will all return to our true home in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss soon. I will see you there! Namo Amituofo."
