A Grandmother’s Journey to the Western Pure Land

This is a record of an interview with Li Dani, the grandmother of lay practitioner Cai Aiping. Li Dani sought deliverance through the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This testimony was recorded on December 19, 2025.

Li Dani speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Li Dani. When the Venerable from the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre interviewed me not long ago, I agreed immediately to come to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I knew my granddaughter, Aiping, had been praying for me to come here early, and I received that message loud and clear. What she said was exactly what I had been longing for in my heart, but it was her sincerity that truly moved me. I could not wait for this day to arrive! Thank you, Aiping. Grandmother is truly with the Buddha now, so please, do not worry about me. Seeing that you have the incredible karmic fortune to be with the Buddha at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I am so happy for you. Right now, I am kneeling before the Buddha, pouring out my heart to express just how grateful I am! To think that someone in our family has encountered the Buddha—our whole family is saved!"

Beyond the Bonds of Kinship

"However, being here, I am different from who I was before. I no longer hold onto the attachment of who is my family and who is not, because here, I see that everyone is my family! We have all come from different places, having experienced so much throughout our many lives, and now we have all returned to this original home, the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. My heart is overflowing with gratitude as I say thank you to the Buddha and to Practitioner Su. I also want to say thank you to you, Aiping. This is a very sincere expression of gratitude and blessing, and I hope you can feel it."

"Grandmother knows that you have the karmic fortune to recognise Namo Amituofo and the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre because you are a kind-hearted child. I know it has not been easy for you; your path to learning the Buddha’s teachings has been full of twists and turns. In China, there are many children like you, and unfortunately, many people do not believe in the Buddha. This is a common phenomenon in the Dharma-ending age, so please do not be too sad about it. Furthermore, the fact that Namo Amituofo is residing here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is something that most people in the world would consider a fantasy. This world is so polluted, and that is just the way it is. You must believe in yourself and your connection to the Buddha. You are saved, and you are truly precious."

A Message of Hope for the Family

"Everything must be taken one step at a time. Slowly, you will transform yourself to become more and more like the Buddha. One day, you will be able to save many people. Only through your experiences and your story will everyone understand that the path you have chosen is the correct one. It is never too late, truly. You must believe in yourself and listen earnestly to the words of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. Do not hold onto your own opinions about everything around you, and you will be able to learn very quickly. Your time at the temple this month is coming to an end soon, and I am so happy for you. I can feel your Dharma joy and your spirit of passionate dedication. This is excellent—you must continue to do this. Having the Buddha present is something to be cherished!"

The Natural Path to Enlightenment

"Today, I am sitting on a lotus seat in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Everything here is so beautiful. Whenever I look up, I see the Buddha’s compassion right before my eyes. It is hard for you to imagine, isn't it? I am so happy singing, 'Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo.' Although I did not understand how to practise the Buddha’s teachings before, I understand now, and I cherish these days with the Buddha even more. You can show my letter to our family members; I hope everyone can slowly come to know the benefits of learning the Buddha’s teachings. Practising the Buddha’s teachings is what can truly bring you a happy life. I hope everyone can believe this. If you do not yet know the Buddha, when you are sad or need to relax, just empty your mind and quietly listen to the Buddha-name, Namo Amituofo, as chanted by Practitioner Su from the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Listen to it word by word with a calm heart, and you will have different realisations."

"Of course, if you can listen to the sutras as explained by Practitioner Su, that would be even better! You will hear directly what the Buddha’s teachings are. Those who truly implement the Buddha’s teachings will not grow old, will not get sick, and can attain rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss with ease. All of this is a very natural universal principle; there is nothing superstitious about it. The Buddha’s teachings speak only of purity and Goodness, returning to the Buddha-nature that is naturally inherent within us!"

A Final Expression of Gratitude

"Finally, Grandmother wants to say to the Buddha once more: thank you, Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. You are both very great Buddhas. I have now seen with my own eyes that the act of becoming a Buddha to save all boundless suffering sentient beings is truly inconceivable! I am also so grateful that my granddaughter, Aiping, can be so close to the Buddha and be with the Buddha every day. I am so happy for her. You must keep your smile and let it come truly from your heart. I wish you progress in your spiritual achievements and that you return to the Western Pure Land soon!"
