A Journey from Hell to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

An Interview with Lay Practitioner Xie Ping

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Xie Ping, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his experiences after passing away and his eventual deliverance. Recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on November 15, 2025.

Lay Practitioner Xie Ping speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Xie Ping, and I am currently residing in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. My heart is filled with profound gratitude. Under any other circumstances, it would have been impossible for me to arrive in this beautiful, magnificent place. It is only because my daughter-in-law, Lin Lichun, performed the Chao Du for me that I was finally rescued from the depths of the hells.

Those days in the hells were truly, unimaginably bitter. I never would have thought that even if I considered myself a 'good person' while I was alive, I would still end up in the hells. This is something that people in the world simply cannot fathom. There is the law of and cause and effect spanning three lifetimes—what you did in your past lives, you must bear the consequences for in this lifetime. I realise now that I had already begun to pay for some of my actions while I was still living, but because I had committed so many wrongdoings, I was still destined for the hells after my death. I urge everyone in the world to do good deeds. Do not ever think that no one sees you when you do something wrong. The saying that 'three feet above your head, there are gods watching' is absolutely true. Please, do not gamble with your own life!"

The Light of Deliverance

"Lichun, my dear, Father is so happy that you performed the Chao Du for me. If it were not for your efforts, I would still be suffering in the hells right now. I remember that day vividly—suddenly, a brilliant light shone upon me and brought me to a temple. This temple is called the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. That light was the Buddha-light. In my entire life, I never once imagined that I would be touched by the Buddha-light. Once that light touched me and brought me here, I never suffered again. Truly, I have not felt a single moment of pain since.

That day, the Master asked me if I wanted to go to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I must admit, I was a little hesitant at first. This place was already so wonderful—could there really be a place even better than this? I watched the assembly and the Chao Du at the temple, and I saw how everyone was so joyful and eager to go to the Western Land. I wondered, 'Is the Western Land really that good?' So, I decided to go and see for myself. When the Master asked me again if I wanted to go to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I agreed immediately! And it was exactly as they said—this place is simply too wonderful! This is what they call the Buddha-light shining everywhere. There is no night here, only eternal daylight, and the scenery is breathtaking. It is a world shimmering with golden light, far more beautiful than any heavenly realm I could have imagined."

A Debt of Gratitude

"Lichun, I rarely call you by your name, but you have done everything so perfectly. One must do good deeds in this life. Here, I spend my time chanting 'Namo Amituofo.' Namo Amituofo is truly magnificent. I heard Practitioner Su giving Dharma talks here, and I learned that the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss was built by Namo Amituofo. He is truly the greatest architect in the entire universe. From now on, I will reside here forever. This place is so perfect, and your decision to perform the Chao Du for your father and mother was the correct one. You have done a wonderful thing, and I want to praise you for it. Thank you so much.

I must express my deepest gratitude to Namo Amituofo, and I must also thank Practitioner Su. If he had not cultivated his practice to such a profound level, it would have been impossible for him to have the ability to bring us, the departed, into the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. You must show them great respect and express your thanks to them. I, too, want to say thank you to the Master.

To have been able to enter the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss in this lifetime makes my life feel truly valuable. Well, I have said all that I needed to say. You must all live your lives well."

"Namo Amituofo."
