A Journey from Samsara to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Yang Guoying, the uncle of Lay Practitioner Huang Zhenqiang. He sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on June 13, 2025.

Lay Practitioner Yang Guoying speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I offer my deepest gratitude to Namo Amituofo, to Practitioner Su, and to my nephew for bringing me here to the presence of the Buddha. It was only after arriving at this Buddha-land that I truly came to know Namo Amituofo. I am also profoundly thankful to Namo Amituofo for bestowing such immense energy upon me.

The Radiance of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

I am not a man of many words, but I wish to tell everyone that I have arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This world is brilliantly luminous, and everything here perfectly aligns with my heart's desires; I am truly filled with joy. The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is glowing everywhere, and this light fills my entire being with strength and boundless energy.

Since arriving at this Buddha-land and coming to know Namo Amituofo, I have come to understand so much. In the past, I always believed that this physical body was the ultimate reality. I thought that to survive, one simply had to work hard and be an honest person. Now, I realise that this body is merely temporary. Everyone in the world struggles and competes for their own gain—there is no one who does not compete—but I see now that such actions only serve to harm oneself.

The Truth of the Laws of Karma and Cause and Effect

Previously, I did not understand the laws of karma and cause and effect. Now, I finally see that every action carries a consequence. I share these words in the hope that my juniors may come to understand this truth, so they might avoid taking the wrong path.

I have witnessed how every person experiences the cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death, and I used to think this was simply the natural order of things. I thought the same way, but now I see that there is so much more to it. It is through the compassion of the Buddha that I have learned that one can change the cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death, and break free from the cycle of being reincarnated. If one keeps thoughts of Goodness in their heart, looks for the good in others, thinks of the good in others, speaks of the good in others, transforms their own character, and continuously chants Namo Amituofo, it is entirely possible to end the cycle of being reincarnated.

Gratitude for Deliverance

I have seen my own past lives—I have been a dog, and even a grain of sand. I also had many karmic creditors seeking revenge against me. Therefore, to be able to be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss now, I feel incredibly fortunate and deeply grateful.

Through the purification process during this time, I have become someone entirely different from who I was in the past. It was only after gaining this deep understanding that I made the firm decision to be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I thank my nephew for truly helping me. You and your wife are both honest people; while you are at this Buddha-land, you must follow the Buddha diligently and serve all beings. This is the blessings you have cultivated. You must cherish it well, and in this lifetime, you must follow Namo Amituofo back to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

Your honesty is a virtue. If the opportunity arises, you can introduce the Buddha to others; those connected by karmic affinity will believe.

I hope that all my family members are well, and I hope that more people will have the Causal Conditions to believe in the Buddha. I will say no more for now.
