Lay Practitioner Zheng Xiangmei speaks:
". I am Zheng Xiangmei. I am filled with such immense gratitude to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. The beauty and the profound sense of peace I feel at this very moment are truly beyond words; there is simply no language in the human world that can adequately describe it. From this moment forward, the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is my home. It is a place where all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas dwell together in perfect harmony. It is truly beyond my wildest imagination that I, a humble being, am now living on the same sacred ground as the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and that I have the incredible opportunity to listen to the lectures of Namo Amituofo every single day.
Every day, I am able to remain in the presence of the Buddha. There is no doubt, no dissatisfaction, no resentment, and absolutely no regrets or of longing for the past. Everything that happened in my previous life now seems so clear and distant; I have let go of it all completely. There is not a single attachment left in my heart. When I look back at my life, I see it with such clarity and lightness.
My time in the human world was so incredibly short—I lived for only fifty-some years before I departed. After I fell gravely ill, the entire cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death seemed to pass by in the blink of an eye. It was as if it all vanished in a single moment. To be honest, I had not even reached old age. In the human world, fifty is merely middle age, yet I had to leave. When you think about it, life is truly bitter and fleeting; that brevity and suffering are the truest portraits of a human life.
Looking back at everything from the perspective of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I can finally understand the state of my own heart at that time. I was so foolish then. I did not realise that my personality was flawed. I simply assumed that once things in the human world passed, they were gone forever, and I never thought there was anything I needed to change or repent for. We never knew these things. It was not until I became severely ill and felt that my entire body was no longer under my own control that I began to experience strange visions. Only then did I realise that my spirit no longer belonged to me, and that my struggling, failing body was nothing more than a hollow shell.
My child, when you looked at my body, you did not know that it was merely a skin bag. You could not see that my true spirit had already descended into the hells to undergo retribution. The only reason I am able to be here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss today is because I was brought to the Western Land of Nature, where I followed Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su to listen to sutras and hear the Dharma for quite some time. Only then did I finally understand what had truly happened to me.
It turns out that my spirit had long been targeted by my —those beings with whom I had formed deep grievances in the past. They were dissatisfied with my personality and my actions while I was alive, so they drafted a formal complaint and reported me to King Yama. That report was the cause of my illness. After I became sick, my health declined rapidly, and I was gradually pushed toward death. All of this was inevitable; one must always repay one's debts. They came to collect what was owed, and I had no way to pay them back. In the end, I could only repay them with my own life. My life was never destined to be long, and in truth, I had sensed this for a long time.
At this very moment, I am so incredibly grateful to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. It is only because Practitioner Su possesses the skills of an awakened being in the human world that he is able to guide all of us deceased spirits to the Western Land of Dharma Nature and eventually bring us to this beautiful place, the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
I must also express my gratitude to my child, Xiaoyan. I never imagined that you would have such great , that you would be able to help both of us—your parents—reach the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss by registering us for the Chao Du. As your mother, I say this to you: can you understand my heart? I lived more than half my life in a state of confusion, never knowing where I had gone wrong. But now, everything is so clear and bright.
I imagine it is difficult for you to imagine the tone in which I am speaking to you now, isn't it? It is as if my spirit has been purified so much that my words have become refined and filled with wisdom. My dear child, I sincerely urge you to cherish the great blessings you have. You must grasp this opportunity firmly. Encountering the Buddha is not an easy thing. The fact that you can know the Buddha means that you are certainly a person of great cultivation.
To encounter the Buddha while still in a human body is very different from encountering the Buddha after having suffered through the myriad tortures of hell, as I did. You must treasure your human body and use this temporary body to find the eternal truth. Learn to cultivate the same skills as Practitioner Su to help many others—why would you not want to do that?
I will certainly not let your filial piety go to waste. I will continue to practice diligently here, to repay all beings and to live up to the expectations everyone has for me. Gratitude to Namo Amituofo, gratitude to Practitioner Su, and gratitude to my family. Namo Amituofo. Zheng Xiangmei speaks."
