This is a record of an interview with Sun Lishi, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her life, which began during the Qing Dynasty. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on May 1, 2026.
Sun Lishi speaks:
". I am Sun Lishi. Upon arriving here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, one must carry a Heart of Gratitude. I truly hold such a heart within me. For these past few weeks, while residing in the Western Land of Nature, every single day has been overflowing with Dharma .
I am deeply grateful to Namo Amituofo and to Practitioner Su for granting me the opportunity to reach the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss alongside so many other beings. My own family members have also arrived here, which is a rare and precious blessing. I wish to sincerely say to the Buddha: 'Thank you.'
The Lightness of a Liberated Spirit
The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is truly a remarkable place. The moment I arrived, I felt my entire spirit become incredibly light—even more buoyant than when I was in the Western Land of Dharma Nature. My mind is exceptionally clear and refreshed. Although I do not need to 'think' about anything, it feels as though I already know everything. It turns out that the Buddha is so compassionate; everything the Buddha possesses, we who are in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss also possess. That is the same high level of Wisdom.
I can now discern with greater Wisdom what is the righteous path and what is not. I can distinguish between good and bad with clarity, yet my heart no longer holds any attachment to these distinctions. This is the unique wonder of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Wisdom Beyond the Human Realm
Within just a few hours of my arrival, aside from making prostrations to the Buddha, I also bathed in the Eight Virtues Water. Everything here is so magnificent, so perfect—it is impossible to describe it fully in just a few words. Everything I see, hear, and perceive through my is filled with and joy.
At any moment, I can look up and see the towering Namo Amituofo delivering lectures. Sometimes, when I wish to hear the Buddha explain other matters, I naturally receive the message transmitted by the Buddha. So, this is what is meant by 'the sensing and responding between the Buddha and the practitioner'! Having been dead for so long, I have finally attained a completely different understanding and a total transformation.
I am grateful for the Buddha's compassion, and I am also grateful to my wonderful grandson, Sun Fengge. He has helped deliver so many people to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. His family and the elderly people around him are truly fortunate, myself included.
A Legacy of True Dharma
Practising the Buddha's teachings is truly the right path you have chosen. To practise is to learn everything about the Buddha, to learn the Buddha's spirit, and of course, to rediscover the truth that we are all originally Buddhas. I believe you should understand this even better than I do.
I was born during the Qing Dynasty! My life was filled with hardship. As you all know, over these many years, our country has experienced so many changes, and only now has it slowly stabilised. Therefore, I never had the opportunity to learn the Buddha's teachings. But now, after such a long time, I have finally seen the true Buddha's teachings appear in the world once again.
I must say, the fact that Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su reside at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is an unprecedented event in history. I sincerely hope that in the future, someone will be able to carry on Practitioner Su's work. If one can possess the same heart and the same vows as Practitioner Su, then Namo Amituofo will be able to continue to dwell in the human world.
A Message to My Family
My hoping for this now is of little use, as I no longer have a physical body and cannot do much myself. However, those in the human world who have the karmic affinity can certainly achieve this through their own efforts. This sincerity is vital. You must be single-minded in your dedication to all beings and let go of selfish desires; only then can you help everyone elevate themselves.
Finally, I would like to say a few honest words to my family. I hope that those of you reading this letter will truly believe what I say, and also believe what my wonderful grandson, Sun Fengge, has told you.
He is a person of true Wisdom, which is why he was able to recognise the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and have such deep, unwavering faith. This is a manifestation of his own good roots, Causal Conditions, and . While you are in the world, you must expand your hearts—be even more generous, do not fuss over trivial matters, and do not be attached to gains and losses. Such practice will help you truly elevate your lives.
Namo Amituofo is compassionately waiting here for all of you to return; this is your true, original home. That home in the human world is merely a temporary residence. You live there in a physical body for a few decades, but the moment you leave the world, everything is gone.
Therefore, you must cherish yourselves. While your spirit is still pure, this spiritual home can help you truly leave suffering behind and gain happiness.
Haha, you must be quite shocked to see me so full of Wisdom now, right? In the human world, I was just an ordinary woman of that era, hoping for a good family, raising children, living a happy life, and avoiding serious illness. But now, as I speak, every word is filled with truth. That is because, after purification, I have been able to restore my original nature! In truth, as long as you are free from the constraints of this body and let your spirit take the lead, everyone can be as carefree and energetic as I am.
However, if you are to be a spirit, you must be a high-level spirit.
Finally, I once again bless my family and friends. You must all follow in my footsteps and seek rebirth in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Do not become lonely wandering spirits in the human world—that would be far too painful!
