A Journey Home to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with the Great-Grandfather of Zhao Yanyun and Zhao Yanpu, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his long journey through the cycle of rebirth. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on June 5, 2026.

The Great-Grandfather of Zhao Yanyun and Zhao Yanpu speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I have finally reached the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss! This place is truly the ultimate bliss—a happiness that is permanent and unchanging.

Looking at Namo Amituofo before me, I have finally recognised the true Buddha. He is so real, right here in front of my eyes. It is not like the world I left behind, where I only saw statues or images of the Buddha. This is the real, living Buddha. I knelt on the ground to kowtow in gratitude; this old man has finally found his true home.

The Miracle of Deliverance

My heart is overflowing with emotion and gratitude. I know that this was not easily attained. I waited for such a long, long time, and finally, I have arrived in a world so pure and beautiful. Beyond my immense gratitude to Namo Amituofo, I am also deeply thankful to Practitioner Su.

Just moments ago, Practitioner Su was sounding the large qing, and in an instant, he guided our group to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. It turns out that after Practitioner Su attained Buddhahood in the human world, he gained the ability to travel back and forth to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss at any time. This skill is truly miraculous! I suspect that Practitioner Su is the only one in the world with such a profound ability. I believe this must be the case.

A Debt of Gratitude to Descendants

I am so fortunate. Because my descendants encountered Practitioner Su and the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, they registered for my Chao Du. Oh, I truly do not know how to express the gratitude in my heart right now. Thank you to my wonderful grandchildren—Zhao Yanyun and Zhao Yanpu. Thank you for performing this deliverance for us two elders.

Even though you might not remember our names, Practitioner Su possesses such vast supernatural powers. As long as you provide your names and our relationship, Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su can see everything in this world; they understand the Alaya consciousness of every person. They can clearly see everyone’s past and present lives, and every person connected to them. So, as long as you mentioned that I was your great-grandfather, haha, they knew exactly where to find me. It is truly miraculous!

From the Dharma-Nature Land to Ultimate Bliss

Well then, today I have officially arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Here, the fragrance of the lotus flowers wafts through the air. If you have read the sutras, such as the Amitabha Sutra or the Infinite Life Sutra, you will know that what is described there is exactly what this world looks like. I came from the Western Land of Dharma Nature. I can tell you that the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is far more beautiful than that place, because this is an eternal Pure Land. The Western Land of Dharma Nature is not bad—it is also very beautiful—but the beings there have not yet reached the level of purification of those in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, who are all like Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

In the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I sometimes saw many people who would still shed tears because they had just arrived and were not yet familiar with the place, still clinging to everything in the human world. That is why Practitioner Su calls that place a 'transfer station'. Now I understand the reason.

A Final Home

My heart is now completely at peace. I know that this place is my final home. I no longer have any wandering thoughts, nor do I wish to go anywhere else. This is where I belong. I will practice diligently here to repay the Buddha’s kindness, and in the future, I will also repay the kindness of all beings by helping those with karmic affinity to return to this world. This is what I must strive to do now.

Everything from the past feels so distant now; there is no need to dwell on it. I have been a wandering spirit for over fifty years, and I had long forgotten what happened in my past life. I only knew it was a long, endless cycle of rebirth. Now, I am finally liberated. My heart is filled only with gratitude and joy.

I am so grateful to my grandchildren. Thank you for your sincerity. Seeing you perform Chao Du for so many relatives here brings us great comfort. In the days to come, you must cherish the human body you possess. Follow the footsteps of Practitioner Su, listen to the sutras, hear the Dharma, perform prostrations, and chant Namo Amituofo.

In the future, you too can come to this Land of Ultimate Bliss. Who knows? After you accumulate merit and virtue, your grade of rebirth might even be higher than ours! You must believe in yourselves; you must believe that you are Buddhas.
