This is a record of an interview with the late Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss and shared these reflections on August 18, 2018.

Lee Kuan Yew speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Lee Kuan Yew. Looking back at the world from where I am now, I see so much of the human experience still trapped in deep confusion. People are caught in a cycle of suffering, unable to understand the truth of their existence, and their hearts are filled with restlessness and anxiety. So many of the desolate scenes I witness in the world are self-inflicted. If only everyone could learn to see through these illusions, I believe the world would not have to be so full of suffering."

The Illusion of Worldly Success

"In my past life, my abilities were widely recognised and praised by many. I spent my days in a constant state of busyness, always striving, yet I never truly understood the nature of suffering. I mistook my worldly achievements for the ultimate success. I was completely unaware that I had fallen into the trap of the and , caught in the endless cycle of right and wrong. From my youth, through my years of service, until my retirement and eventual passing, my life was defined by struggle. I had a specific way of educating my children and a firm approach to living in this world, but looking back, it was all filled with conflict and contention. I did not realise the depth of that suffering then; I actually cherished it as if it were a treasure. How foolish the world is—to struggle so hard for things that are ultimately meaningless, and to believe so firmly in the reality of a dream."

A Father's Final Plea for

"My son—the child I raised with such care—I was once very satisfied with his achievements. Now, however, I feel a profound sense of worry for his path. Such a life is destined to be a failure, for when one stands at such a high position, one can never truly see oneself. He does not understand his own true situation, and these worldly attachments are ultimately harmful. I have only one hope now: that this letter, sent from the beyond, might have the Causal Conditions to awaken my son. I hope he can find the conditions to rediscover his true nature. Life is but a dream. I hope my children can come to understand what kind of life is truly magnificent. I am grateful for everything, and I pray that my children may be awakened, and that all the children of the world may find clarity. Namo Amituofo."
