The Reflections of a Soul Transformed

This is a precious land that the human world lacks, and it is my sincere wish that we may all gather here together. I am Koo Chen-fu. For those of the older generation and students of political science, my name may be familiar. The historic Koo-Wang talks were once a significant event between the two sides of the strait. However, I do not wish to speak of politics today. To me, those matters have become like floating clouds and a light breeze; right and wrong, success and failure, all shift and change with the tides of history and the decisions of national leaders. Today, I wish to speak of the world beyond this life.

My life spanned the worlds of politics, commerce, and finance. After death, I carried with me both the merits and the faults of my actions. However, the heavier karmic debts must be repaid first, and the hells were my destination after death. The suffering was immense. While living in the human world, one must be extremely cautious with every word, every action, and every thought and intention. Do not assume that no one knows or no one is watching. Everything is recorded. When you stand before the King of Hell, every detail is laid bare before your eyes. Even if you are eloquent and skilled in debate, you will find yourself unable to defend your actions, forced to bow your head, admit your faults, and endure the necessary retribution.

The Path to Deliverance

Time in the hells passes so slowly, and the suffering is profound. One day, I suddenly heard the sound of a bell ringing in the void, followed by a voice calling: "Koo Chen-fu, Koo Chen-fu, come up." Shortly after, I was guided by a brilliant light and brought to Practitioner Su. I began to listen to sutras and hear the . To me, the Buddha’s teachings were both familiar and strange. I began to learn again, to chant Namo Amituofo, and to make sincere vows. Initially, I was to be sent to the , but because of the common affliction of modern intellectuals—the tendency to believe yet remain doubtful—I first entered the borderland of the Western Pure Land. Only after deep repenting was I able to chant Namo Amituofo and finally enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

The Splendour of the Western Pure Land

This is a truly magnificent world. Here, there is no need to work for money, nor is there any need for currency, because whatever you desire, it is already there. The environment is one of supreme Goodness, where it is impossible to give rise to a single evil thought. Everything here is beyond the reach of the human world:

  • Exquisite Sustenance:
  • There are delicacies and fine foods that do not exist in the human world.Elegant Dwellings:
  • Beautiful homes and clothing appear the moment you think of them.Harmonious Arts:
  • Even the Peking Opera I loved so much—the moment I think of it, beautiful melodies and arias resonate all around me.Natural Music:
  • The sounds of birds and flowing water are themselves beautiful music and profound teachings.Perfect Health:
  • There is no pain or illness. All the ailments I suffered in the human world have vanished, leaving my body and mind feeling refreshed and cool.Ideal Climate: Every day is like spring; the temperature is perfectly comfortable, with no harsh winds, rain, or natural disasters. Everywhere is filled with a pure, refreshing fragrance.

A Call to My Family and Descendants

Such a wonderful place is accessible to you. If you have the opportunity to reside at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, you will have the chance to come here. To my vast family and friends, if you have the opportunity to read this, please believe that these are truly the words of Koo Chen-fu. I have washed away the dust and worldly attachments of my past, replacing them with a state of purity and elegance. I am now a part of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is true! I hope that you, too, can come here.

My nephew, Koo Lien-sung, and his mother, Koo Yen Pi-hsia, are also here in the Western Pure Land. They were also saved by Practitioner Su and brought to the West. Here, there are no past grievances or emotional entanglements, only a vast expanse of peace and serenity. This is a precious land that the human world lacks, and I hope we can all gather here together. I am waiting for you in the West.

Especially to Koo Chung-liang: it is because of the karmic connection of teacher and student that you shared with Practitioner Su in past lives that we had the opportunity to be saved and attain rebirth in the Western Pure Land, including your most beloved grandmother, Koo Yen Pi-hsia, and your father, Koo Lien-sung. Here, your great-uncle wishes to express his gratitude to you. We are no longer in the human world, but you are in your prime. If you are fortunate enough to receive this message, please visit the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. You will see that what I have said is true. Please remember to thank Practitioner Su on our behalf.
