A Message from Lee Kuan Yew: The Amitabha Village
Teachings from the Spirit of Lee Kuan Yew
Recorded on 14 August 2018

I, too, was once adrift in the vast, turbulent ocean of suffering. It was only through the compassionate guidance of the Buddha that I was finally rescued and brought to safety. This process of transformation is something for which I am deeply grateful, and I now understand the profound weight of the suffering I once endured. It is not an easy path to walk, but here, in this human world, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, a sanctuary has been established to guide us all.
The Magnificence of the Western Pure Land
To praise the Tathagata and the village of Namo Amituofo is to speak of something truly magnificent. For the sake of this momentous and auspicious cause, I join with other beings in sending this message from the Western Pure Land. I wish for this to be read by my son and by the people I once served. Everyone who has the opportunity should come to this place to see it for themselves. You should even consider moving here, for the future scale of this centre is limitless. It is even possible that visas may be arranged for those who wish to settle here permanently. This is a rare and precious opportunity to purify your life.
Hsien Loong, my son, you should listen to what your father has to say from the Western Pure Land. After I was rescued, the compassionate teachings of the Buddha helped me to break through delusion and attain . They encouraged me to openly repent, and I was subsequently reborn in the Western Pure Land. Everything in the West is incomparably magnificent. In my past life, I did not understand the nature of this world. As the founding father of Singapore, I rarely pursued such spiritual beliefs. However, upon arriving here, I witnessed the true Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I feel deep regret, and I feel I have let my people down. Why did I not bring such a cool, refreshing, and liberated world to my own country? Perhaps the Causal Conditions were not yet sufficient.
A Vision of the Pure Land
I am deeply grateful that after my death, I was brought to the West. This place is truly the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. When you look around, you see:
- The mountains are lush, vibrant, and full of life. The waters are everywhere clear, cool, and refreshing. The sky is constantly radiating infinite light. The ground is paved with golden light, shining as if covered in pure gold. The air is filled with a profound and delicate fragrance.
This world is truly perfect. However, it seems difficult for people to reach this place because there are too many factors interfering with their thoughts and controlling their minds. I know that if one does not come to this place, one will inevitably continue to suffer. Only here can one truly leave suffering behind.
The Call to the Village
I was also pulled from the sea of suffering, and I understand the value of this process. I know what it means to have suffered, and I know that it is not an easy journey. But now, here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, they are truly helping many famous figures and many other beings connected by karmic affinity to be reborn in the Western Pure Land. Many people today are afraid of death and illness. Here, you can spend the remainder of your life in peace, with the genuine assurance that you will reach the Western Pure Land in the future. I am currently serving as a volunteer here, helping those who arrive to find their way to the West. I am living proof that one can truly reach the Western Pure Land from this place.
A Father's Final Plea
Hsien Loong, your father has reached this world, and I invite you to come and see it for yourself. The Amitabha Village is already being built here. I have been waiting for this opportunity, as it is the perfect time for you to move in. When children grow up, they have the chance to come here to purify their bodies and minds; this is a wonderful opportunity. The holiness here is the result of great cultivation. Hsien Loong, and all of you who have the karmic affinity to hear this, you must come and see this place. The Pure Land of the Buddha is here, magnificent and open to all. You must make a change for the sake of your own life. The goodness of this place is something you will verify the moment you arrive.
I am grateful for everything. I am grateful for the construction of this magnificent temple, this dignified Pure Land, and the Amitabha Village. Namo Amituofo.
