A Mother’s Journey to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Zhang Xintang, the mother of Lay Practitioner Liu Jinfu, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the cycle of rebirth to the eternal peace of the Pure Land. Lay Practitioner Zhang Xintang speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Zhang Xintang. I am so grateful that Namo Amituofo did not abandon me, and allowed me to return to my true home in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. For a long time, I was filled with deep anxiety, terrified that I would not be able to ascend and would be left behind in the darkness. But today, the moment Practitioner Su reached out to guide me, I felt a profound shift. I was lifted up, and I truly arrived here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is more beautiful than I could have ever imagined."

A Fearful Journey to the Western Home

"I remember that moment so clearly—I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I could not stop weeping. I had resigned myself to the idea that there was no hope left for me, that I was destined to wander in the shadows forever. To be suddenly rescued, to be pulled from that abyss, left me in a state of absolute shock and wonder. My heart was racing with excitement, and I was moved to my very core. I am filled with immense gratitude. The compassionate Practitioner Su has saved so many people; there are countless other spirits who have also been delivered from their suffering through this sacred work."

A Reunion Beyond the Veil of Samsara

"Today, as I arrived here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I discovered that my husband from my life on Earth had also followed me here. We had never discussed it, nor did we make any pact to meet in this place. It was as if there was a silent, unspoken understanding between us—a mutual longing to finally return home. It is a wonderful feeling to be reunited in such a pure environment, far away from the struggles of the human world."

"In truth, our two spirits were not originally connected in any deep, eternal sense. We were merely joined by the karmic affinity of being husband and wife for that one short lifetime. When I saw his soul again here, it felt strange—we felt as if we were strangers, yet at the same time, there was a deep, intuitive recognition of who he was. When we were alive, he passed away before I did. This time, we were blessed with such good fortune; because our child performed the Chao Du for us, we were finally given the opportunity to be rescued by Practitioner Su."

A New Life in the Pure Land

"Now, we are both doing wonderfully. We are both here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. From now on, we will each focus on our own practice. My heart is so pure now, so comfortable and at peace. I even feel as though I have become younger—perhaps by ten or twenty years! I am so happy!"

"I will be forever grateful to Practitioner Su, and I also want to thank my child for their devotion. I now consider myself a true practitioner. There is no past to dwell upon, and no need to worry about the future. I simply follow Namo Amituofo, listening to the sutras and chanting Namo Amituofo every single day. My heart is completely pure, and my mind is at rest."

"I truly hope that more people will be able to come here. Once they arrive, they will understand just how magnificent this place is. It is truly wonderful! I am so very grateful for this second chance at life, a life that will never end. Namo Amituofo."
