A Mother's Journey to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with Zhang Yuzhen, the mother of Lay Practitioner Lu, who sought Spiritual Deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her journey to the Western Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on May 30, 2025.

Zhang Yuzhen speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Even now, I find it hard to believe that this is truly happening. Have I really arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss? I am overwhelmed with disbelief—how could I, a simple person, have accumulated such immense blessings to be granted entry into this magnificent realm? It is truly breathtaking, so beautiful, and I must say, it is beyond words—it is so incredibly 'dignified'!

My tears have not stopped flowing since I arrived. They are tears of pure joy, and tears of deep, heart-touching gratitude. I often laugh to myself, marvelling at how fortunate I am to have received such a blessing! I know in my heart that it was Practitioner Su who reached out to guide me here, and for that, I am eternally grateful to Practitioner Su."

Witnessing the Work of Chao Du

"While I was residing in the Western Dharma-Nature Land, I spent my days watching everything that unfolded at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Perhaps I was simply more curious than others; unlike some spirits who would close their eyes and focus solely on chanting Buddha's name, I found myself unable to look away, watching the events with great interest.

I witnessed the countless spirits arriving at the Centre every single day—spirits of every kind imaginable. During the Dharma assembly, the numbers were particularly staggering. These spirits arrived dressed in the attire of many different eras; some looked quite elegant, while others appeared tattered and worn. They were all there seeking Spiritual Deliverance. Some did not even appear in human form, and some were truly terrifying to behold. I watched in absolute astonishment, for I had never seen such a sight in my life. There were also many demons among them, and because Practitioner Su is constantly working to save these beings, they were drawn to the Centre in great numbers."

The Path to Purity and Repentance

"I watched this every day, and with each passing moment, my admiration for Practitioner Su grew deeper. I also listened to the Dharma talks given by Practitioner Su. The more I listened, the more I felt the weight of my own past actions. I began to repent sincerely, realising that throughout my many lives, I had caused harm to many people, which is why I had been so heavily entangled by karma.

Once my heart finally settled and I stopped looking around at everything else, I began to focus entirely on chanting Buddha's name. As my heart became increasingly pure, my desire to join everyone in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss grew stronger. I finally began to understand what it meant to repent with a sincere heart, and I made the vow to reach the Western Land."

A Mother's Final Wish

"Today, I was finally guided by Practitioner Su to the Western Land. Even now, I have not yet been able to fully calm my heart, for I am so deeply moved and grateful that the tears just keep falling.

I also want to express my deepest thanks to my child who helped me. It was my child in the human world who arranged for my Spiritual Deliverance. Thank you for saving your mother; it is only because of your efforts that I could be rescued by Practitioner Su and finally escape the endless cycle of reincarnation and suffering. I truly hope that my child, and all my relatives still in the human world, will also chant Buddha's name, study the Dharma, and one day, we will all be reunited in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
