A Mother's Journey to the Western Pure Land

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Chen Yeluo, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her journey and her final message to her children. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on April 11, 2025.

Lay Practitioner Chen Yeluo speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am so deeply grateful to the Buddha, and I am so deeply grateful to Practitioner Su. I have finally arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

A Heart Transformed by the Buddha

Seeing the great Namo Amituofo with my own eyes, I was moved beyond words. I have always made a vow to follow the Buddha’s heart, and at last, that vow has been fulfilled. I have truly escaped the cycle of reincarnation. Even now, I continue to chant the Buddha’s name without ceasing. When I recall the moment Practitioner Su reached out to guide me, and in the blink of an eye, I was transported to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, my heart overflows with emotion and gratitude. To express my thanks, I knelt and bowed before the Buddha and Practitioner Su.

For as long as I can remember, my heart has always been turned toward the Buddha. I knew deep down that only the Buddha could help us leave suffering behind and gain true happiness. Because of this, I resolved to practise diligently, placing a special emphasis on chanting the Buddha’s name. It was only later, when I encountered the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and began to understand the magnificent Dharma taught by Namo Amituofo, that my resolve to follow the Buddha’s heart became truly unshakeable. I feel that I am incredibly fortunate.

The Clarity of the Dharma

When listening to the Dharma talks, the direct and plain-spoken nature of Practitioner Su’s teachings is something truly unique—you simply cannot find this anywhere else in this world. I am also deeply grateful for the kindness shown to me by Master Lai Miao. The Causal Conditions of this life have been truly magnificent, allowing me to now sit at the feet of the Buddha. I will certainly follow the Buddha and study well to repay the kindness you have all shown me.

A Mother’s Final Message

To my son and daughter: thank you for fulfilling your mother’s greatest wish and for helping to arrange the Chao Du that brought me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. You are both grown now, and you each have your own lives to lead, but you must always remember the seeds of Goodness in your hearts and the importance of following the Buddha. Mother believes that as long as you have faith in the Buddha, the Buddha can help you navigate through many of life’s difficulties. This is not superstition; it is about strengthening your own heart and keeping your mind clear and pure.

You are both different from many others because there is a source of inner strength within you. You have always been such good children. Even though your lives are busy, Mother hopes that you can always find peace of mind.

Now that I have attained Buddhahood, I am constantly chanting the Buddha’s name. I hope that you, too, will never forget the Buddha. The Buddha will take care of you in my stead.

From the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I send you my blessings. I hope that your lives will only continue to improve and flourish.
